"Stop Shooting" is a meme worth your $20 · by Rafi Kam

Man, we thought 2005 had some quality shootings. But in the ‘06, Rap is truly outta control!

This week was very special because there were no rap-related shootings in the press.

Well… there were a few stabbings though: Young Zee and his manager at the Ice Cube concert. And there were some very well-off morning show DJs threatening each other’s lives and family members. So I guess we didn’t exactly overcome this week.. maybe next week.

A thought came to me after last month’s trilogy plus 1 of shootings (Proof, Gravy, T.I.’s crew and Big Hawk) and it goes like this: As much as I admire the mechanisms by which ideas go viral, I don’t think “Stop Snitching” is the message I want tipping right now.

Seth Godin and Malcolm Gladwell both agree that the best way to fight a viral idea is by another viral idea. One virus to fight another.

And with this in mind we urge you to help us get a meme rolling… presenting the Stop Shooting shirt. Because really, isn’t it about time to put All Glocks Down? Hm?

Now as you help us spread this soon to be viral idea around on your blogs, through your emails, at the school pep rally or Sunday morning at church, you may want to just refer those you’re buzzing to about the store url instead of this post.

After all, the person you’re speaking to probably won’t even know how to spell meme, let alone launch one. So we can just keep the grand designs secretly concealed behind this little curtain ok?

Keep on the watch for new posts that hammer home the Stop Shooting message and are ok for “civilian” eyes, especially with each new shooting. Won’t be long now. ;-)
