Just wondering.

I think D.P. is one of the best blogs in town but anytime someone clicks on a link to it from here they may get some random pornography.

I’m all for an I don’t give a fuck attitude but this site offers so much that I wonder if it’s not doing itself a disservice with doing so many of these.

I want my kids to be able to read the harrowing tales of 1980s violence and the cantankerous rants about the state of hip-hop without having to see some tits in mid-flopping!

  2. sorry to turn you kids off. I make sure not to show any genitalia or areola in my pics, but that is the extent that I will go to censorship. My blog isn’t just for adults, but for a small percentage of adults that can think well outside the box(pun wholly intended).

    I don’t want kids navigating the site without an adult to preface the posts anyhoo. This is grown man thinking going on over there.

    A buddy of mine did convince me not to drop and graphic ‘love’ pics during the week since people peep my site from their offices but that is the extent gotdammit.

    by the way Rafi, only you and 8 other people view the site.

  3. I view 4 blogs regularly on the net. Oh Word, Nah Right, Dallas Penn, and Spliffhuxtable. I really enjoy Dallas’s site for the intelligent and witty writing. Any given day I can laugh out loud or travel with him through a chidhood memory as if I’m sitting in a park in NY drinking “Tropical Fantasy”.

    With all that being said, I also believe that the porn could be removed from the site unmissed(if that’s a word). I feel that it is unecessary and awkward.

    I understand that the content is ultimately up to the Dallas and as an artist I know that everything you do won’t be felt by everyone. So I tend to treat the porn like one of my favorite rappers songs or skits I don’t like. I skip over it, enjoy the rest, and I don’t hold it against him.

  4. That’s a good question actually – how long does it take merch to ship out? All I got was a PayPal receipt, not an order confirmation or anything.

    I’d never actually heard of Dallas Penn before this thread, but I’ll probably check it out now – and not for the porn since I’m a happily married man. ;)

  5. Like it says on the shirt pages, expect about 4 weeks for delivery. Both of your shirts should be shipped out in a week or so.

    Sorry for the wait. We wanted orders going out every week but we had to change that after the first few weeks because the scale of orders was too small to sustain it.

    I agree with Bless 1 that on both the dopeness of the writing at DP and the porn not personally offending me. I too find myself just mentally skipping those posts. I was just wondering if others were fans of it because I figured some may be bothered by it.

    I noticed you posting them in the off-hours and figured that was a move to be conscious of working people. Of course this means the archive can be work-dangerous even if the current posts aren’t.

  6. No problem Rafi. I understand you need to batch orders so that it makes sense to mail them all at once, especially if you have to drive to the post office with gas prices being what they are these days. I just think you might want to add an “order receipt” function of some sort so people have confirmation and a timetable – I know you got da programming skillz to do it! :)

  8. I read Dallas on the daily. We aso had the good fortune of hanging out once (briefly) last month as I recognized him in a NYC club.
