Baseball has this way of making happen what’s supposed to happen.
Exhibit A: Barry Bonds total physical breakdown in his last contract year with San Francisco, while still nearly 40 homers from the record.
Exhibit B: The Mets turn into a thrilling baseball powerhouse 20 years after their last amazing championship. It’s only right that the one team that should now be on their most-feared list for October is the Red Sox, whom they stole the glory from in ’86. The same Red Sox that just swept them in Boston over the past 3 games… Still we’re a long way from October and Boston has plenty of time to cool off.
I think Nostra-Dallas called this shit today. A Mets-Red Sox world series rematch is one of those things that karma will make happen. The Sox got their Babe Ruth revenge on in ’04 but they still long to avenge Buckner. Hopefully they won’t win it but I think they’ll will their way into the matchup.
And if the October series gets too scary I may just end up watching that old RBI Baseball clip.

I’m torn because that World Series is the first one I can ever remember watching and paying attention to. I felt bad for the Sox when I saw the ground ball go through Buckner’s legs, but my heart has always been in New York even if my physical body has resided elsewhere. I was happy to see the Sox finally break the curse though.
