News of the Wyrd
You would think it’s simple common sense. Unless you have a real strong case, don’t sue somebody who has a lot more money than you. The Wyrd Sisters now know not to fuck with the Warner Brothers.
Proof that I’m the biggest geek on the Internet
I took note when I saw that there’s a They Might Be Giants tribute album coming out. I can’t help it. Their first few albums were cool and their Dial-A-Song was a constant source of amusement for me in the early 90s.
Kris Ex loves him some year-old beef

Not sure exactly why an experienced hip-hop journalist is stuck in 2005’s blog world, but there’s Kris Ex over at XXL for no apparent reason re-hashing Bol’s old beef with Clyde Smith and constantly talking about the Clipse. I thought both of those subjects were left safely back in 05.
I myself have picked on Clyde’s site quite a few times in the recent past but here’s the thing: my audience is probably 90% hip-hop bloggers. You know like the way they say Velvet Underground only had 1,000 fans but they each had their own band. Oh Word readers have a solid chance of knowing who Clyde is or in finding it amusing when someone takes jabs at another blog. Half of the XXL audience has either never heard of or forgotten who Clyde Smith is, another 40% think it’s a reference to Raekwon’s voice-muffled alter-ego and the rest would either be Bol or some of his kinfolk.
I’ve always gone after the blog – and with reason (like when it gave the Cristal story round the clock coverage for a week and a half). Kris doesn’t deliver any kind of story to go along with his personal attack so people are just left scratching their head. The appropriate reaction can be seen in the comments of his post. 8 or so comments, 4 of which mock Kris for pointlessly picking a fight, 3 of which ignore the topic completely and 1 which is probably Bol or one of his kinfolk. Lest you think this would deter Ego Exo from continued but lesser attempts to Clyde in his next 2 posts.
It was smart of Clyde not to post a heated reply (I was pleasantly surprised considering he had a tizzy when I merely agreed with the obvious truth that his blog is ugly). But it would be even smarter if he used this to his advantage with a cool-headed but wickedly funny retort at his own site. Mm, all the yummy XXL traffic possibilities!
Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s any chance at all that we’ll be seeing that.
Who wants my Shawnna cd?
Your boy won 2 blog contests this week. Time to play Lotto!

I’m serious about the Shawnna cd… Who wants it?

When Agent B gives approval on something it’s best to listen. This comic pretty much P3wns anything else I’ve linked to in this post.
Well said re: exo and Clyde. Even better Wu-Tang reference.

I’d probably need a ghostwriter to pull that one off. The thing is I don’t read, respond to or care about Kris Ex.
I got pissed at you cause you’re worth dealing with.
But now that I know, I’ll have to give it some thought. The guy’s so wack that I always thought I was doing him a favor by not mentioning how wack he is. Maybe he’s trying to raise his profile or something.

He’s dropping threats and shit! That guy’s such a joke. I didn’t read everything but the best line he stole from bol. The rest is his typical wasting everybody’s attention nonsense. That’s why I don’t read him.
Does anybody get the line he’s 40 if he’s going on 12? Since I’ve been very public about being 46, is there some joke I’m missing? I’m kind of slow with bad writers.
Anyway, thanks again.

As far as I can tell, Kris Ex is actually a literary genius. Nobody understands him today because he’s so ahead of his time.
Ten years from now, his posts will be taught as literature in schools.

Ok, since people have been wondering, now that I know what Kris has been up to, future responses will appear at Hip Hop Logic:

My thanks to Rafi Kam for allowing me to share my comments in his venue.

There’s only one Fellowship for me and they don’t talk about Bibles. They talk about true school b-boy metaphyzics.
