Dear Home Depot & Re-Bath of Connecticut · by Rafi Kam

This is a message for Home Depot and the bathtub reftting company ReBath regarding the late and ultimately botched work you did at my home last year. This is the case I’ve been given the runaround on by your customer service people for nearly a year now.

Give me at least half my money back (re-opening my customer service case and an apology would be a good start) or you will see me turn into Your Own Personal Jarvis.

Sincerely yours,
Rafi Kam

  1. WHEN CUSTOMERS COMPLAIN THE HOME DEPOT DOES NOT CARE! THE HOME DEPOT HAS NOW INSTALLED 3 ROOFS ON MY HOUSE IN THE PAST 10 MONTHS AND DID OVER $1,000.00 IN DAMAGES. MY CEILING HAS BEEN CRACKED SINCE 3-29-06 AND STILL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. YOU CAN VISIT MY WEB SITE AT http://www.freewebs.com/myroof

  2. Thanks for this insight regarding Rebath. I was just looking into using them, as I received a flyer in the mail and took a look at their website.
Your blog has made me reconsider. Thanks,
    Karen

  3. Good move Karen.

I’m going to post the more of this story this week. Including how Rebath contacted me because of this post but then still failed to do the right thing.

  4. I was seeking info on Re-bath & saw these enries regarding Home Depot problems. It reminded me of the poor carpet installation Home Depot did at our home & would not fix, claiming they had no record of that purchase (yet they had earlier records of our other carpet purchases from them. I will not explore Re-bath & will try to find a reglazer. Thank you.

  5. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kam,

On behalf of Re-Bath of Connecticut and Home Depot, I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced in regards to your installation. When you first brought your complaint to our attention in January of 2006, we worked diligently to resolve the issue with you. It was our understanding that a mutual agreement was made to provide you with a $200.00 Home Depot gift card. The agreement, and release of further liability, was mailed to you on February 6, 2006. We never received any further communication from you either declining our offer or confirming final acceptance.

When we came across the above blog, we contacted you immediately to discuss the issues. You informed us that you were no longer living at the address where the installation had taken place. We again repeated our offer, but at that time, you chose to decline and asked for half of your money to be returned instead. We feel the nature of the problem did not justify a 50% refund. Additionally, the misunderstanding involved a dispute over extra work you requested be performed after the contract had been initiated.

Our offer from February still stands. Should you decide to accept the offer of a $200.00 gift card from Home Depot, please contact our corporate office.

Re-Bath LLC has completed over 1,000,000 installations in our 25 year history. We have a long & successful track record of providing quality products & services to customers nationwide. We are committed to doing all we can to delivery a satisfying bath remodeling experience.

    Sincerely,

    Heidi Seyler

  6. Nice try Heidi but…

Rebath’s installation manager Mike told us before the job was properly completed that we should definitely be due a refund for the fact that the initial install was screwed up and that it then took Rebath 3 months to “fix” the problem.

Once it was fixed the end result was a wall which did not reach fully from the ceiling to the floor as we had paid for in the initial contract and which you must have assumed you were going to be installing because you removed floor moulding there. The $200 is an insult. We didn’t get a floor to ceiling wall… the wall was inches short of the floor. So the base for any discussion before a refund should be the less expensive 3/4 wall that we could have taken.

The job which was first done improperly in in June of 05 left us without proper use of our bathtub for that entire summer. We called Rebath of CT for support during this whole process but were constantly blown off when it was time to discuss a refund so in September of last year we took your own employee’s advice which was that we better ask Home Depot for the refund because we weren’t getting it from you.

Home Depot was supposed to mediate a negotiation with Rebath in December (before you even claim I called about this) and I waited on a conference call with my Home Depot customer service rep for quite some time but she couldnt reach Rebath.

Yet magically in early February she closed the ticket even though no negotiation had taken place. I now believe this may be because I had mentioned to her that we were moving. Because at that point she stopped returning my calls.

As you already know from our conversation I never received an offer of anything from Home Depot (would have turned down a $200 gift card anyway).

When you called me it was because you didn’t like this page showing up on rebath’s google rankings. The first thing you said to me was “how can we get this offline”

In our conversation, you did a good job of seeming like you were listening and assured me that you would see what you could do and call me back within a few days. It took two phone messages, about a month and ultimately me mentioning in a voicemail that I will post about this again for you to finally call me back. A nice symmetry with the rest of this whole experience on the broken promises about getting a call back!

So I’d like to respectfully disagree with your statement. You will not do all you can to deliver a satisfying bath remodeling experience…

from my experience you will screw up measurements twice – once on the cutting of the wall and once on selling the more expensive floor to ceiling wall when you can’t even reach from our floor to ceiling. You will take about four times longer than stated at every piece of the process – sales guy stated a few weeks, first installer stated a few weeks, 2nd installer stated a few weeks – so that a bathtub remodeling ordered in early april is finished 6 months later, has caused damage to our bathroom and ultimately doesn’t deliver on the original order of a wall that reaches from floor to ceiling.

The fact that we don’t live at the house is irrelevant because we were told there was no way you could deliver a wall that did reach from ceiling to floor. Why then are we paying full price for one? And why did it take 6 months and damage to establish that?

You know what Home Depot can do with their $200 gift card. Also very nice of them that they haven’t returned any of my calls after they chose on their own to close this case in February …. Including when I called them just last week.

    Rafi    Sep 21, 03:36 PM
  7. What extra work are you even talking about? When we wanted the damage to our wall and floor moulding that you had caused fixed?

That’s a piece of the puzzle but don’t make it sound like there’s some extra work that we requested. There was only one job ordered. Fixing your damage should be expected, no?

  12. Thank you for this posting. I am no longer considering Rebath as a vendor for our multiple bathroom remodeling projects. Mistakes happen, but there is no excuse for poor customer service.

No longer considering Rebath    Nov 3, 11:10 PM
  13. Thanks for the info about Re-Bath. I was going to try to persuade my mother in law to cover up, rather than replace her avocado green bathtub. But after reading this post and others (Ron Goldman’s)it is pretty clear that Re-Bath does not have a handle on it’s franchisees. Woe unto them in this day and age when a bloggers post about poor treatment can be seen by anyone doing a search for their company name (like I was doing). I called Re-Bath yesterday to get set up a quote and the person on the phone was VERY evasive. I asked her what the price range was for covering just the tub, and she kept insisting that she would have to send a salesman to the house. Fine, I said, we will get to that, but if your starting price is like $3000 I don’t want to waste your time. She would not answer my question, and started getting nasty with me. I warned her that I would hang up unless she could give me a straight answer. She didn’t. I hung up. Fortunately when I did a google search for Re-Bath, this blog showed up and the price is now irrelevent. I hope the good folks at Re-Bath are listening. For all the reputable installers out there (and as a small business owner I sympathize with you) perhaps you should pressure Corporate to be a little more proactive in resolving lousy installs. Good luck to all. Scott

  14. Letter to Re-Bath! A lousy customer service!

    Dear Sirs:

I have had a very bad experience with the representatives of your company in Florida. It went that far that I called the deal off and I am not interested in your product anymore since customer service was more than ridicules!

On October 23, 2006, I signed a contract with your representative Julio Onde in Florida. He was very eager to sell his product and promised a lot of things that turned out to be impossible and simply lies later on.

He for instance told us (me and my neighbor since we signed the contract the very same day) that we may use the bathtub for a shower with no problems at all a couple of hours after installation. The guy who installed the product in my neighbor’s house advised her not to shower for 48 hours what means 2 days! Absolutely unexpected and unacceptable!

The contract said that my installation will take place before Christmas and Wayne definitely called me before that for the installer’s appointment at 8 a.m. in the morning. I cleaned out my bathroom and got everything ready for the job. At 8.30 in the morning that very day, I received a phone call from Wayne (Florida office location) with an apology that he just realized that the wrong bathtub was delivered for me! I had taken this day off in order to be home and available for the installer. I am an independent contractor and I skipped a job for that reason! So, I lost money!

Wayne told me it will only take another week to get the right bathtub for me but I never heard from him again until I started calling from January 8 on. The Florida (305-225-2228) number says on the recording that they would be available from 8 to 5 but I always received the recording during these business hours. Mary called me back eventually and left a message. I finally reached her and talked to Wayne and he wanted to start telling me a big story about what had happened with my bathtub. I was not really interested at all since it was almost the middle of January already and I had not heard from your company after all these promises at all! So, I told him I would not be interested in a product of such an unreliable company anymore at all and that he should make sure that Home Depot will get the money back on the loan and that I DO NOT want to receive any statement from them again. Wayne promised that to me. I will see if he will be able to keep at least this one promise!

Your sales representative Julio Onde was emphasizing his customer care and circling his cell phone number on his business card begging us to call him with any problems. He always would be there for his customers! Well, I called him and left 3 messages within 3 days, he has not returned any of my phone calls as of now yet! So much for your reliable sales representative in South Florida! Just people with a big mouth trying to make a great commission on sales but no service behind!

I am pretty powerful in my community and I create web sites as well and I know how to influence people regarding their decisions for or against a company. You will certainly not be on my favorite list at all – quite the opposite!

Sorry, but PLEASE change your rep’s to real, honest, and caring people – just eliminate liars!

    Thank you very much!

    Best regards,

    Kerstin

  15. I was also considering Rebath as an alternative to having my bathroom remoldeled. I have just recently seen the adds that they have a an office in Pensacola and Ft Walto Beach Florida. Now that I have read your blog, I will not go any further with my Rebath research. The comments that they made above, sounds just like what a large corporation would offer 200 dollars blah blah blah FIX THE PROBLEM!! Don’t insult people!

    Doug    Jan 21, 09:32 PM
  16. Rafi – Do you mind telling us what you paid for the rebath project? Thanks.

    dana    Jan 22, 01:12 PM
  17. I have to say this, I had contractor do my basement shower about two years ago and in 4 months it leaked. I paid only $2500 for all the work(5days) that was done and it looked ok. But when it leaked I couldnt get him on the phone, after countless messages I gave up.

My mom did a rebath shower(tub) and after 5 years it never has caused her problems and she uses it everyday, unlike my shower…She paid alot i thought but in the end its still working and looks the same. I did get a rebath qoute but thought i could do better,

With the few that are unhappy, I FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT THE CONTRACTOR I USED which wasnt rebath….
REBATH gave my mom a nice bathroom. A cheaper contractor gave me a leaky shower…

Rebath is not that bad in my opinion. My mom loves it and it looks better then my new shower(HERS WORKS TOO!)

    Jason    Jan 26, 12:06 AM
  18. I had re-bath put in my showers. The travertine walls look very nice. That is the type I chose. They made my shower larger by putting in a larger shower base. Each company is individually owned so you have to check for the validity of the complaints against that particular franchise. I checked before contracting with mine. It wasn’t inexpensive, but overall I’m happy and would do it again. I live in California.

    Debbie    Jan 28, 01:17 PM
  19. I had the re-bath system installed in my home and I’m very happy with the outcome, a buddy of my wouldn’t stop raving about his re-bath so i gave them a call and i have no complaints. So the franchise in north Texas must be doing something right.

    Mike    Feb 1, 01:02 PM
  20. as a former employee of home depot i can say definetively: do not use any home depot at home services. anyone working for them could be making far more as an independent contractor, soo makes you wonder why they have to work for home depot in the first place (mostly guys that have either retired from their own businesses or those that couldn’t hack it as an independent). and as far as re-bath, sorry but no one should be suprised that installing one tub over another would create problems, immediatly or over time.

    jc    Feb 1, 03:12 PM
  21. I like your points jc.

But for the record, they didn’t install a tub over our original one. It was a brand new tub installation they loused up. The old fractured one was removed.

    Rafi    Feb 1, 03:35 PM
  22. I also have a nightmare story about Rebath and Home Depot. Materials ordered in July…today (Feb 8, 2007) they are here for the 7th time to “make it right.” Walls cut short…caulking poorly done, and re-done. Hey! Like RE-bath!! The commercials for ONE day installation are a joke. And they don’t come cheap. I agree with all the previous comments. I took 3 vacation days to be present for the installation.. Guess my time isn’t as valuable as theirs. Why don’t they work nights or weekends??? And Home Depot backs Rebath all the way. They should pay ME for my time, and aggravation.

Kathryn Speziale    Feb 8, 10:22 AM
  23. Well, those comments just made up my mind. I was considering Re-Bath but I think I will look elsewhere. Thanks for the heads-up.

    Nanc    Feb 18, 09:18 PM
  24. WOW…...I was THAT close to calling rebath for an appointment. I have a 75 year old house and cannot remove the old tub, so it has to be painted or covered! OUCH!!!!! Back to the drawing board. Has anyone used or heard anything about calbath? vd

virginia denison    Feb 21, 10:01 PM
  25. I have to put in my 2 cents worth. We had a very good experience with our local Re-Bath. The work is excellent, the people were very accomodating, the job was done in 1/2 half a day just like they advertised. We didn’t have to put up with having demolition, dust, disrupted plumbing, etc. as would have happened had we had a new tub installed.

    mary    Feb 22, 11:22 AM
  26. I am still considering re-bath and will research more into my local business. But will now be a bit leary from what i’ve read above. Thanks!

    Melissa    Feb 28, 11:25 AM
  27. does anyone have any information on what kind of job rebath does in the Salt Lake City area??? Have two baths that need remodel and need someinput.

    norm    Mar 10, 04:30 PM
  28. First of all, Home Depot doesn’t know or doesn’t care about the service the subcontractor gives you. The only reason why they jump through this hoop is to get you to buy the products for the job. THEY JUST WANT YOUR $$.

The subcontractor is really a loss leader when you think about it. If they didn’t offer the subcontractor service, you would hire a contractor who might buy the products somewhere else.

I didn’t use Re-Bath, but I did contract Home Depot to redo my bathroom. What a nightmare. They didn’t know that a plumber would be needed to redo the drain. They didn’t know that the tile I bought for the wall couldn’t be used on the floor. You get the idea.

But neither did the Home Depot subcontractor!!! The poor tiler—a sub to the subcontractor—was loaded down with the mess. And to add salt to his wounds, when he went to pick up the floor tile, which I bought at a real tile store, his trailer was broken into and he lost $2,500 worth of equipment.

In the end, the tiler (remember, the sub of the sub) did a fine job. But not even 6 months later, guess what? The crappy grout from Home Depot is peeling!

Bottom line, don’t ever use Home Depot for anything. They destroyed the mom and pop hardware stores—you know the friendly people who would have RECOMMENDED reputable contractors who COULD DO the job. Now I wish we had them back.

    Nancy    Mar 15, 02:09 PM
  29. Does anyone have any info on the Memphis Rebath service? Already I have had numerous problems with missed appointments with no calls. These were arranged through Home Depot. Has anyone used ” Bath Fitters” ?
It is a company and is active in the Memphis area.

Beverly Love    Mar 16, 12:49 PM
  30. Everyone needs to forget about Re-Bath and just call Bath Fitter. They have a one-piece wall and a lifetime guarantee.

    Jim    Mar 21, 09:56 PM
  31. I had a bathfitters bathroom leak and ruin my kitchen celing. There service was horrible and there one peice is really not, when you count all the trim they used! Would not use bathfitters again! Waist of Money and having redone with someone else…

    Jane    Mar 26, 10:29 PM
  32. We had ReBath (Custom ReBath) of NEO (north east ohio). We had repair work that needed to be fixed behind the wall, pipes were leaking. Covered the tub and shower walls up to the ceiling with a tower in the corner, new shower doors and new Wolverine fixtures.

The whole experience was OK. The tub was the wrong size when they came to install. Had to wait another 2-3 weeks for that install. The finished product is fantastic. We paid $3500.00 in 2004.
Called corparate because of the inconvience and error in measuring the tub and loss of use. (Waiting for the tub to be installed we had to buy a shower curtain rod and curtains because the doors couldn’t be installed without the tub)
After 4 or 5 calls to complain about the experience, we got $200.00 off the job.

  33. OH HOW I AGREE! The quality of work done by the Home Depot Professional Installers is parallel to the way a DOG lays down a long line of digested dinner! A big pile of doggie doo-doo!

Customer Service could not care less about the job – especially since they have the check in hand! They told me I was, “TOO PICKY”! I should have slugged the jerk and faced the legal issues. I pray he rots in the fire down below for his LIES AND DISRESPECT!

SPECIFICS! They installed my toilets – forgot wax rings on BOTH! They installed new shower/bath/ sink valves AND TRIMTHE INCORRECT TRIM TO BOOT! All – without exception -leaked; one was scratched; one was installed in the wrong room and the last simply was the wrong MAKE. Again – CS Customer Service simply laughed.

STAY CLEAR OF ALL HOME DEPOT INSTALLERS —- they are no more professionals than I am a brain surgeon! The biggest crooks in all of ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO!

THE STORE IS THE RIO RANCHO, NEW MEXICO STORE IN ENCHANTED HILLS! IDIOTSONE AND ALL!

    Irate as can be,

  34. Dear Heidi
    Re-Bath Damage Controller

YOUR REPLY – OR A PORTION OF SAME – noted below is the pure and simple dribble that RE-BATH uses on ALL customers who feel they were screwed.

CHARLE CRIDER (or SCREWEDER) of the ALBUQUERQUE “RE-BATH” FRANCHISE came to my home several months ago. He is out of the 2426 WASHINGTON NE., Albuquerque, NM 87110 ‘so-called store’.

The MOMENT this ‘man’ could see my wife and I were NOT ABOUT TO SIGN A $22,500.00 contract “ON THE SPOT”, he packed his cases and samples and was OUT of our home in five-minutes. He was RUDE RUDE RUDE! Plus his cheap COLOGNE STUNK UP OUR HOME! I NEARLY PUKED! He smelled like a male whore!

In addition, as he exited our home, one of his ‘cases’ tore a BIG opening in our screen-door! He didn’t even flinch – he simply kept his over-weight buttox moving towards his vehicle! The man IS a full blown idiot!

Now as far as your products —— PLASTIC LOOKING —— OVER-PRICED JUNK! I do not care how many awards you have received – nor from where they came. This CRIDER (MISTER STINKY)character was all, “best this – best that – other companies are inferior – our product will stand the test of time” BULL!

Defend Re-Bath all you want Heidi —- the fact remains that the job you address HERE was done in a amateur way! Your saels-staff (CRIDER IN PARTICULAR) are liars who do not deserve to be seeling DEAD animals food, much less HOME UPGRADES!

POULIN DESIGN REMODELING / RE-BATH and HANDYMAN are ALL FRANCHISES owned by the same money grabbing idiot!

YOU DEAR LADY (and I use the term with reservation) OWE MR AND MRS KAM AN APOLOGY AND A REFUND! They bought whta they felt was a good product. It turned out to be JUNK JUNK JUNK!

Your $200.00 GIFT CARD is an INSULT! It is a piss poor amount not worthy of consideration! You should be ashamed! How does it feel to be a corporations professional damage control officer?

In the NAVY we call such individuals, ‘political prostitutes’! Anything for a buck!

NOT to call you ANY FORM OF SEXUAL TOOL —- but to simply express how YOUR POSITION IS ONE STEP ABOVE THE SAME!

May you rot away in one of your own RE-BATH JUNK PRODUCTS!

  35. ReBath in Phoenix metro area, AZ is truly great. Just in case you may be thinking of a re-do. Measured in one hour. Installed in one day. It looked beautiful. Did have crack develop at drain and whole thing replaced at no cost immediately. For the cost, 3,000.00, but looks like a million. We did add several safety features, which are included in that cost, so I feel was very cost effective, too. Please remember to check your local Better Business Bureau and Registrar of Contractor’s before using any company. They weed out the stinkers for you.
Again, in Phoenix they did good!

  37. ReBath is a great company! I originally had Bath Fitters out to put in an installation and when I had an issue, I called several times to ask for “warranty work” and never got a call back! (This is documented with our local BBB)I got so fed up I had the local ReBath outfit come out and redo the whole thing! I paid a little more for the product from ReBath but I feel the value I got was immeasurable! The staff was great and very well informed. They came and measured, took pictures and then they arrived to do the installation in one day. They also explained to me that there is NO true “one piece wall system” and that Bath Fitter screws their ceiling panels into the walls instead of bonding them, like ReBath. I am now in the process of ordering my SECOND ReBath tub and I can’t be more delighted! I urge people considering a bathroom makeover to do their homework on the individual franchise they have to work with.
A word about the Warranty too: Bath Fitter has a Lifetime Warranty but if the franchise is out of business, you are screwed. ReBath has a Lifetime Factory Warranty. I am truly covered for life no matter where the franchise may be ten years from now.

  41. Thank God for Google. I was going to call Re-bath. As for Home Depot, thumbs down!

    — margaret    May 9, 01:17 PM
  42. Wow – I was going to go to Home Depot to recover a bath tub of a house I am moving into. I have changed my mind after reading this. This does, however, fall right in line with the standars of today. There is no customer service and essentially no quality work from anyone. I have been through construction, an addition and lots of contractors and it is frightening out there. You would think everyone was independently wealthy.

    — JG    May 15, 11:44 AM
  43. Greensboro, NC checking in..called ReBath too trying to get a price range as I am far too busy to run everywhere just wasting my time as well as other people’s. I also encountered the extremely rude woman on the phone who insisted I could have NO information unless I agreed to have a salesperson come out and that even speaking with a salesperson on the phone was not allowed. I finally became frustrated and told her that life had taught me that if a company would not even hint at a price for their product, then it was probably a product that I could not afford (one way or the other). I went and got a contractor and after reading the above comments, THANK THE GOOD LORD that I did.

    Nancy    May 15, 10:39 PM
  44. Ha!!! lol and smh @ all of these re-bath/home depot disturbing experiences…..seems like Home Depot and Re-Bath need to change the culture of their companies….fraudsters…...if re-bath or home depot existed in Australia I’d go and piss on their doorsteps…thanks for the heads up OhWord

  45. I had Rebath come do our shower after a friend had it done. I am in Colorado Springs. I have to say, the guys amazed me. They had an installer named Jeff that was so nice, clean, and did just a perfect job. He was a tru professional and craftsman. I know this does not happen often but I just wanted to let you all know that my experience was really good. We are doing another bath in a few months when we can afford it.

  49. After reading this blog and other info online about Re-bath, I decided not to use them to redo our shower surround. Thank you for hosting this blog.

    — J    Jul 10, 05:03 PM
  50. hello all i am a former installer of bathtub and tile surround liners … the same stuff that “re…” and “bath…” use and I have to agree. This service is a waste of your money. dont do it. I have stopped installing theese products becase all they can do is fail . I read this entire blog and let me tell you somthing the people that are complaining should consider themselves lucky that the only problem they had was alittle lose of time . I wonder what will happen WHEN the tub starts to leak and note i did not say IF i said when because sooner or later it will. Try to get them to fix your cieling or clean up the mold from all the stagnet watter that will be sitting between your tubs . I had a customer that had this problem and i did my best to try to resolve it .So I went back I removed the damaged liner and told him he woud have to wait 3 to 4 weeks before I could get my hands on a new one . Thank god he was verry undestanding. So three weeks came and went I got the liner in and went to install it. To my surprise they sent a tub with the drain on the wrong side. Now this saint of a man understood that things happen so he waited another 3 weeks and I did get a new tub liner in and i did check to see if the drain was on the correct side . It was . but the tub was damaged in transit so i took the tub to the customer and showed him what I was dealing with at this point all we could do was laugh. I orderd yet anothe one they sent the rite one no damage and I installed I for free ofcorse that was the last liner I ever installed .
    ps no spell ck

  51. I hate that companies are now reimbursing customers with store credit in the form of gift cards…we deserve to get our money back!

    — j    Jul 29, 03:08 AM
  52. My neighbor in Fort Walton Beach just had REBATH from Pensacola, Fl install her safety tub, it was cracked during install and now she has to wait another 8 to 12 weeks, just a shame, this lady is disabled. Rebath has terrible customer service, treats her without any dignity. I suggest not using REBATH......

  53. Thanks for posting this. I had been thinking about using Rebath to redo my bathroom. After reading all of this….NO THANK YOU!!!! What lousy service!

    — Ryan    Aug 3, 10:45 AM
  54. I am so happy I found this thread. I was also thinking about using rebath at my house as a fast and affordable alternative. When I read that this has turned into months and months of headaches and expense for many of you, I’m now convinced that I’ll never use Re-bath. I understand that mistakes can happen, but there is no excuse for poor customer service. Thank you for sharing your experiences!

  55. Rebath. Bathfitters. Sounds like I’ll come out best if I just get a new tub & tiles …thanks guys for all of the good information!

  56. So glad I stumbled on this blog re: Rebath and another re:Bathfitters. I will look into another way to spruce up my bathrooms. Also, thank you for the tip about Home Depot’s installers. YIKES!

  57. Earlier this year, i spent a month in sales for re-bath in dallas ,TX. When I started I personnally knew the owner and he is of good character. After getting minimal training, I went out on sales calls and the type of leads were a joke. ..ie..old,broke and clueless…these poor people really had a desperate need and I was tasked with wearing them down and getting the order order. I made one sale in 3 weeks of work UGGGGHHHHHH !!!
When i started putting the order together and looking at the markups I was flabergasted !!!! An acrylic tub and surround cost the franchasee approx $300…..
They sell the same system for over $4000 !!!!

WHAT A RIP OFF !!!!!so beware !!!
finally we were trained to say it will look perfect and itll be ready in 2-3 weeks .This is more lies Good luckto all and beware !!

  58. Say no more!Re-Bath was to come to my house Thursday. They are supposed to call me tomorrow to confirm the appointment, I don’t think so, the BBB Connecticut page shows nothing but complaints. They call themselves Pro-Bath now with the same address.Same phone numbers. The salesman on the phone was very reluctant to give me a ballpark price, $3,500 to $5,000, that is pretty steep.I’ll find a better way to refinish the tub.
    Thanks for the blog

  59. I am so very thankful for this thread. We were contemplating ReBath in CA.
Last summer, we were screwed by a contractor. Had to get someone else for that job. If it were to happen again, I would be arrested. lol We will just get the bathroom redone the old-fashion way. Thank you all for your info.

  61. thanks for the info. will NOT even bother calling rebath for the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  62. Re-Bath is the best. I had then put it in my house and had no problem, as I would expect, most homeowners would have the same experiance. In my line of work (electrician)I have found the best way to judge a customers honesty to a complaint is do they want the job fixed or do they want money off. If they want money off you know it is a customer that wants something for nothing, that is a worthless person.

    — Jerry D.    Oct 5, 07:35 PM
  63. Jerry, I think you need to check your reading.

Rebath are the ones who told me it couldn’t be fixed when they told me 5 months after my order of a floor-to-wall ceiling that they simply couldn’t do a wall long enough to actually cover from my floor to my ceiling. 5 months! Then the tape measure suddenly works? Yet I still paid for the more expensive product (there’s a cheaper 3/4 wall product – the difference of which should have been the bare minimum for a refund from them), did minor damage to the molding and wall (we had them fix the wall, they refused to fix the molding) to install something they couldn’t install, and they botched the installation the first time around and took forever to show up to fix it so that we lost proper use of the tub for months.

Rebath can’t fix those months of aggravation and they can’t fix the year+ in fruitless customer service bullshit between them and Home Depot afterwards. During the whole installment process we were told after every miscue of theirs that we’d definitely be due some refund but after the job was over it was a whole different story. So now, how do you judge a company’s honesty?

I’m beyond trying to get my $5500 back. I’m just letting the truth be known.

    Rafi    Oct 5, 08:51 PM
  64. My husband(who never took me anywhere but to his favorite place Home Depot) and I decided to redo our bath on our own. It turned out great but we argued through the whole process! Needless to say, we divorced and didn’t finish the second bath. Since I am on my own now, I thought I’d take the easy way out and call Rebath. After reading this, I’d rather call my ex for help…not! Oh well, back to the drawing board. Didn’t think that covering up an old mess with thin plastic was such a great idea anyways. Thanks for the info.

    — kirsten    Oct 17, 04:57 AM
  65. To those of you considering an alternative to Re-Bath solely because of this blog, please read…

Sure, these particular people may have had some bad experiences with their local Re-Bath, but keep in mind…that is just their local Re-Bath. Re-Bath is a franchise and each one is individually owned and operated. One owner’s customer service perspective is completely different from the next. I had a system put in from Re-Bath of Baton Rouge and I absolutely love it. Every employee, from the appointment setters to the consultants to the installers, were all extremely courteous and prompt and made sure that my satisfaction was 100%. The system looks terrific and we have never had a problem with it at all. In fact, if you want to experience what it is like to bathe in a Re-Bath system then just check-in to a major hotel chain (Marriot, Hilton, etc.) and use the room’s bath…yes it is a Re-Bath system (actually Am-Bath but it is the same company, just the commercial version of Re-Bath).

So please, when basing your decisions of a company solely on what a few individuals have experienced, please consider that this is not the case for every branch of that company.

    Regards,
    a happy Re-Bath customer

  66. I am very surprised at all the negative comments regarding Rebath. I also had a bathroom redone by them. I live in New orleans, and could not find anyone else to even come out to me. The woman that came was very professional, it did not cost me anything to have her come. She gave me all my options, and did not pressure me to buy at all. Mine was done over a year ago. I have had to call them for service twice, once my showerhead was leaking, and another time, my shower door was stuck. In both cases, I called the service department. The people who answered the phone were kind and helpful, they did not make feel like I was a bother, as some places do. Someone from the service department called me back the same day. They shceduled someone to come out, and worked around our schedule. When we bought it, they said that everything but cleaning it fell to them, and I think they meant it! The showerhead was defective, and they replaced it at no charge, the shower door had come off the track, and they fixed it at no charge. We love our system so much, my parent who are elderly, are having a safety tub done in the spring. I agree with one of the posts I read, if the franchises are locally owned and operated, we cannot judge one by the other. I would reccomend Rebath in Baton Rouge Louisiana, to anyone. Thank you

  70. I’m totally surprised by all the negative comments about Rebath. I work for the Hudson Bay Rebath/Home Depot just south of the Arctic Circle and they totally hooked me up on ice for my igloo. It’s a small igloo but for the longest time I couldn’t figure out where to put the fireplace. All the ice kept melting! Rebath came through and gave me a great deal on unmeltable ice or something. I know I work there so I’m a little biased but I think I would totally sometimes maybe recommend the Arctic Circle Rebath to anyone who wants great, cold service.

    Rebath is for the penguins!

  73. Does anyone have any information on a company called Capitol Bathworks Corp. in Maryland? They are a RE-Bath outfit.

    Thor    Jan 17, 04:28 PM
  74. Well, I am exhausted reading all of this. I live in Colorado Springs and I have heard good bad and ugly about Rebath and Bathfitters and now there is a new one called Beauty Bath and one other contractor that has a price quote from a whole nother stratosphere. Anyway, as a good consumer, I went to get an estimate from all three like a good patron. The bathfitter guy had not showered or shaved in like a month, the Beauty Bath gal spent so much time bad mouthing everyone else that we felt she was overselling because they are new. Personally not a fan of bad mouthers. Rebath came and tho he was a very boisterous man, he knew what to do, plain and simple. Didnt say a bad word about anyone and spent time talking about our bathroom and best of all, didnt smell of booze! HA!

We decided to go with Rebath and though we were nervous, we were treated great. THey were in and out in a day and I gotta say, it was just awesome. I know there are other that have had a bad experience with others but I had a great one and I think it just comes down to the person and the bathroom. ABC over here will do good but ABC over there stinks. Yeah Rebath had a bad rap here and a few other places but they and bathfitter are HUGE companies. WE bought our first Dodge and hated it and then our neighbor bought one, and loved it. Who the hell knows but…

We loved it, and will do it again.

  76. Thanks to all for the heads up on rebath. My wife and I are in the process of getting bids to redo 3 bathrooms and after reading all of this we will not even consider rebath or any of the cover up products. I can’t describe how scared I am after reading all poor testimonials
    Thanks all

    — Dave    Mar 7, 06:13 PM
  77. Re-Bath vs. Bathfitters? Re-Bath wins easily. Our local Bathfitters is aggressive and overpriced, they have minimal color and style selections, and the one-piece system requires aweful looking trim everywhere. My neighbors had Bathfitter and they were not pleased. We remodeled a bathroom 3 years ago and have another to do this year. Re-Bath (in Maryland) treated us right and the end result is beautiful. Re-Bath is a good way to go if you get a good dealer and a good installer.

    Mike    Mar 18, 11:04 AM
  78. Thank you for your comments about Re-bath. I was just getting ready to check them out for some work on our bathroom. Shame on you Re-bath for treating customers so poorly I pray that one day you will be convicted and repent for taking advantage of hard working people’s money.
Heidi I hope that you will decide to be a woman of integrity and stop trying to cover up for Rebath’s wrong doing.

    — TT Minnesota    Mar 22, 02:20 PM
  79. All that I have to say is that Bathroom Refinishing is still a great option for most people… I mean lets face it; Re-Bath & Bath Fitters are literally using glue to adhere this “plastic acrylic liner” to your original bathtub. Water WILL eventually get between the liner and the old tub and cause the stinking odor of mildew… YUK!!!

If you do look into refinishing make sure you don’t skimp on the job. Use a company that will do the job right and uses the best material available. When bathtubs are refinished, the drain should ALWAYS be removed if possible!!!

I was doing research for my Mother’s bathroom and decided to Google “Re-Bath” and came here… I noticed that few people even know about bathroom refinishing. From my personal experiences; if the job is done right it will last a very long time. I had a local company refinish my 80 year old bathtub over 9 years ago and it still looks new.

Just Google “bathtub refinishing (your state)” for what I think is the best and cheapest option. Way cheaper that a liner!

This is just another option for people to consider…

    Ben    Mar 23, 08:05 PM
  80. rebath is the worst company around. I ordered my bath tub / shower install last July. After replacing my tub twice. And redoing the walls because they measured them wrong, and the fact that my tub has leaked since day one I realized I should of went to bathfitters. I called every day for the past eight months racked up tons of cell phone minutes that went way over my limit. wasted countless lunch hours and mentally am drained. please don’t use re bath….don’t make my mistake.

Cindi Anderson    Mar 23, 11:22 PM
  81. I received an estimate from BATH FITTER for $4000. It looks REBATH would do the same, yet they have more complaints. I think I’ll just hire a handyman and have him retile the bath – at least I know what to expect!

    — Oh My    Mar 25, 11:07 PM
  82. Anyone have any specific information about Re-Bath in Maryland? I did get an estimate of $5,000 for the tub/wall covering and frameless shower door. Reading these negative comments makes me pause to not just into a bathroom upgrade. I just got another estimate today to do the entire bathroom in nice stone tile, new floor, and new bathtub..for $8,000. Sounds like this could be a much better investment in the long term.

    Steve    Mar 26, 07:24 PM
  83. I am currently the Sales and Marketing Director here at Bath Fitter in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. I am hearing a lot of complaining about serveral lining companies. Several of you have said it a couple of times but it really depends on the franchise that your working with. We are all privately owned and operated but as for Bath Fitter, we are backed by the Factory and they stand by us firmly. Our Franchise makes sure that every customer has a very pleasurable experience and there are a few cases where jobs that we installed 10 years ago are having us back out to look at a second bath and we notice problems with the bath we had already installed 10 years earlier and replace it as well. Another thing that I have noticed in the posts above are that many of them are employees of other smaller companies (that are posing as customers, easy to tell)that are trying to get into the industry and if they can bad mouth Re-Bath or Bath Fitter enough, maybe they can break into the business quicker. Folks I will give you one peice of advise when you are looking at any Home Improvement project, if you have a pushy sales person that bad mouths the competition throw them out of your house and call the competition he was bad mouthing becuase they must be pretty good to have him taking time out of his presentation to bash that company.

It is still easy to close a sale by being nice to a customer and asking for the sale at the end of the appointment. And if they so no… It means NO.

I probably shouldn’t say anything as we do enjoy all the business we get from customers that have been victimized by HARD Salesmen.

    Chuck

  84. Wow. A lot of people dissatisfied here. Ive’ got to say, for those considering Rebath that I had them redo our master bath shower and it is wonderful. It’s been in a few years now and it’s so nice. Took 1 guy a full day to complete but he didn’t leave until it was done and done right. I liked them enough to recommend to my sister who had one done in her house as well with the same positive results. I’d easily use them again in the house I just moved to and am considering them at the top of my list.

  85. Cheap thin plastic, over inflated price, it cost them half what they charge …they read from a sales book to sell u the junk!

    Thomas    May 10, 11:33 AM
  86. ReBath finished my bathroom this past Friday and I’m thrilled with the job they did. They had to come out of North Carolina because they’re location in Tennessee isn’t open yet but even with a couple of hours of travel time they were done in one day as promised, and the job looks great. I’d definitely do it again.

Scott Bailey    May 11, 04:20 PM
  87. I appreciate the feedback. I only looked on this site after I called and no one was in the office at Rebath. I am going to go the contractor route – ReBath doesn’t sound like a good avenue for me or anyone else.

    Chris H    May 12, 09:29 PM
  88. New Jersey – Re Bath/Bath Fitters are just fronts for rip offs.Save your money, hire a bathroom contractor, you’ll save yourself money in the long run(no I’m not a contractor). My neice used bath fitter, they had to come back 3 times to stop leaks, which ruined her kitchen ceiling. You don’t get what you pay for with these half asses companies. They should all be put out of business or fined by a state run agency.

    Bill    May 13, 03:11 PM
  89. I recently had ReBath of the Bay Area (San francisco Area) out to install in my home. the salesman ,Jacob, was nothing but professional and curteous, he awnsered all of my and my husbands questions and I thought gave us a really resonable deal $5600 for tub, walls, door, fixtures, etc
The installer was in and out in about 1.5 days. He cleaned up after himself when done and my bathroom looks great. I would reccomend this particular franchise since they are apparently individually owned and operated. I think you just need to really shop around to find the good and honest dealers.I hope this helps anyone in their quest to find the right company.

    jennifer    May 23, 10:10 PM
  90. Yes, each one is individually “owned and operated”. Now stated around four times in the past 20 comments. How serendipitous!

So perhaps at other locations when the installer tells you you’re due a refund, that actually happens?

Your Mileage May Vary as they say on the internet.

Each one, individually p3wned and corroborated.

    Rafi    May 23, 10:23 PM
  91. My husband and I signed a contract for re-bath for our shower (in Mar) Re-bath sent a letter in April saying they were having trouble getting the materials, but would contact us soon. It is now June, and not only no contract or work, but the phone nos. have been disconnected/voicemail boxes are full and the e-mails do not work. Shame on us for trusting them. This was the All American Re-bath in jacksonville, and they were vendors at the Prime Osborn center. I guess a hard lesson learned.
we did put down a deposit, so please beware.

  92. from albuquerque nm…..hello and thanks for saving me the headaches and nightmares…..i was so close to spending thousands with rebath but now I will be sure to look elsewhere….thanks for the post and I will be sure to let ALL my friends and coworkers know of this disgraceful situation.

    — john a    Jun 7, 12:23 PM
  93. I had two bathrooms done from re-Bath(tub with 3 full walls) and they completed both in one day. I know what you’re talking about how the walls don’t reach floor to ceiling and my installers said the company doesn’t make them that high but what they did was use portions from a surround and add it to where the walls didn’t reach. With good caulking it looks factory finish. The bad: the cuts on the tubs and walls weren’t exactly perfect so they use LOTS of caulking to hide it.

Both installations cost me around $7000 and I chose all white with subway tile walls and half shower towers. I can at least recommend reBath over refinishing. The product is much better than a refinish job and thrice better than a fiberglass install. As long as you can keep it maintained, acrylic stays new looking for a long time. The bad #2: caulking doesn’t last as long as the rest of the install so either learn how to do it or hire a pro.

  95. First, I will state that I am a Re-Bath installer in NW Florida. And, as so many times already stated, most franchises are locally owned/operated, though, a few are actually expansions from other nearby franchises. I am proud to say that our franchise has a very good track record, but admittedly, even we have run into the occasional problem that seems both exasperating to the home owner and ourselves as well. These problems can be due to a mistake on our part (i.e. misordering, salesman mistake/mis-measure, typo), the supplier (wrong liner, shower base, walls, hardware) or even the homeowner (changed mind on style/color, install date) but our local franchise is VERY customer oriented and tries very hard to leave each customer happy and satisfied. True, some home owners have had a bad experience; feel buyers remorse over the price, or during heavy business periods, delays in communications. Our business thrives on good word of mouth and customer referrals, which translates into trying to satisfy each and every customer. Especially in these times when money is tighter and the economy uncertain.
As for myself, I have an excellent track record, with a work folder stuffed full of laudatory comments and almost no call-backs. The downside is that I am very tedious and take 3-4 hours longer than most installers (i.e. where some may template, mark, cut and install a wall panel in one 35-40 mins, I might take an hour, but have a percision tight fit). Though my local managers used to complain about my productivity (hours per job) they have come to appreciate that I receive no call-backs due to intaller error (there are sometimes occasions where the factory has packed the wrong trim pieces in the shower door or valve box etc.) So, now the emphasis is on doing it right the first time… not getting it done in the least amount of time possible.
O.K. enough said about me and my local Re-Bath, the main reason for this post is to point out some things that you may want to consider when planning a bath remodel.

Re-Bath, Bath Fitters or other such companies’ biggest selling point is the time factor. In and out in 1-2 days in most cases, as opposed to 1-2 weeks for traditional remodeling. This, of course, would be especially an important factor for those homes that have only one full bath. It also much more convenient for the home owners who have to take time off from work during their remodeling process. Most of the major companies are backed by factory warranties and strive to maintain customer relations because they know how that translates into future business. The cost is sometimes higher than traditional remodeling, but not always. I have had customers tell me that we came in lower than other bids for tile/tub demolition/replacement etc., let alone the time factor. But most importantly, we so OFTEN find problems such as wood rot (entire floors or walls) mold, bad tile/sheetrock that we replace/repair at no added cost to the customer. I once had to replace the floor joists, main beam and sheathing on a off grade floor to complete the bath remodel and Re-Bath did this at no added cost to the customer. This took two extra days (both baths turned out to be this bad) and though no charges were incurred by the homeowener, he wanted a ‘rebate’ due to the fact that his remodel took longer than the stated 2 days per bath.
Though not trying to tout Re-Bath, I have been told that we were chosen for larger variety of colors/styles and that they had heard of other great experiences from other customers.
We have had problems with Safety tubs on occasion. Most often with trying to get a 400 pound tub that exceeds most bathroom doors (they have to be removed and enlarged in most cases) and even had an intstaller drop and crack the side of one. The products are not cheap as one post previously stated, or we would keep two or three of everything on hand at the warehouse in case of emergencies or accidents, but the truth is, the costs are prohibitive to carrying a large inventory, especially on the Safety tubs which run from 4-10 thousand dollars.
I have been doing remodeling for 14 years since leaving the military, and am proud of the work I do, but I understand that not all franchises have met all customer concerns, but suggest to anyone that has a problem with ANY franchise-type company that if you feel that your problems or concerns have not been properly handled, contact the Corporate Headquaters and state your case. Franchises and Licensees usually have rules that they must operate under in order to maintain that franchise. This could be a reason why the company mentioned earlier no longer goes by ‘ReBath’.
As for tub liners versus reglazing, I have yet to see a regalzed tub that has lasted for longer than 18 months, but that could have been due to the person that re-glazed it. It seems to work very well for walls since they are not walked on, but peels or cracks inside the tub. That said, tub liners can fail as well if not installed properly, especially on previously glazed tubs where the liner must adhere to the existing tub.
As for the person who had walls that did not go from floor to cieling, this too is possibly true. The wall panels cannot exceed 106” in height, so if a person has ten foot cielings, they cannot be done with one piece. There are trim options (such as decorative bands) that can easily fit this need, but it is an added cost, and should have been pointed out and addressed by the salesman at the time of sale.
As for rethinking ReBath, do check out other companies or options, because it is always best to make the most informed decision as possible when making an investment of this size. I used to install vinyl windows for Window World and the salesmen would urge the homeowners to seek other estimates because they knew that they had the best product for that price and would get the sale. Just be sure that you are comparing apples to apples and decide what are your priorities, price, time, style etc. And as said before, check your local companies and what kind of record they have. And even how old their complaints might be… hopefully if any company has had problems, they learn from them, correct them, and move on.
Good luck with your remodel and however you choose to go, I hope when all is said and done, it is a pleasant experience!

  96. Does anyone have information about re bath in Connecticut?

    Karen    Jun 30, 09:10 AM
  97. This is very interesting information regarding Re-bath. I want to prevent my retired (fixed income) dad from getting fleeced before he signs a deal. My dad has a very small bathroom and he wants the tub removed and a stand up shower installed. Re-bath has quoted 6k+. I think that’s too high. What’s your opinion?

  100. To every one who thinks the product is marked up to much: everthing is marked up 50 to 100%. I sell beer if you knew how much beer was marked up you would still buy it. Thats how business stays in business. And for you idiots out there who don’t understand economics-the customer sets the price not the business.

  101. We will see how good the satisfaction guarantee is. It took them not one day, not 2 days but 3! The corners are mitered very badly and the finish work is overall sloppy. I have asked them to correct the mirror surround by eliminating it all together, but now they are saying they will only do it for an extra charge! They take their own sweet time getting back to you too! I would never reccommend them to anyone! This is ReBath of the Ozarks out of Springfield, MO.

  104. Customer service is the key. I think some people are offtrack. I have REBATH and the install of materials are wonderful. However I am having problems getting someone to come by and fix a leak under the tub liner. So I am tired of calling but I feel it is my francise that has poor customer service. I am thinking of calling cusomer reports unless I get a call back from a manager on when I can have repairs made. Hopefully I will not have to.

    — Tired in CT    Aug 11, 04:33 PM
  105. I have a friend who worked for a time for the owner of Re-Bath in Connecticut. I don’t know if he was the actual owner or merely a manager. I can pass on to you that my friend said that his behavior toward his salesmen was nothing less than abusive. He would also re-quote existing jobs at a higher price and blow customers off as a matter of routine. Obviously, with this kind of a character managing the office, anything can go wrong, and often does. Rafi is merely one of the victims. A previous poster suggests that Rafi get over it. Why? That’s what people like this scumbag at Ct Re-Bath are counting on. “Oh, don’t bother with unhappy customers. Eventually we stop hearing from them and we can continue screwing new customers and make mo’ money, mo’ money.”

    — Jack in CT    Aug 12, 12:44 PM
  106. To whatkindov, etc.

Rafi is doing the public a service. I, too, have been Ripped.off by Re.Bath of Central NJ. Besides the poor workmanship, they arrived a month after promised. Didn’t show up with the right equipment. Wipped their hands on my freshly painted walls. There is a long list…....but, in short….THEY ARE THEIVES. I was raised in a house where theives and liars were considered very bad things to grow up to be. Apparently, Re.Bath only hires such individuals. I can’t believe Home Depot recommends this company. Their salesperson, Tim (comic book store guy) offered an insulting refund of $250.00. Then he told Home Depot I wanted $1,000.00. Here he was, lying again. I NEVER mentioned a price to him.

Rafi…...keep vigilant. As for me, I’m going to create a T-Shirt to wear while “browsing” in as many Home Depots that I can. It will be titled RE-BATH = RIP-OFF. If it’s OK, I’d like to put your link on it. All consumers should be warned about this awful company. The only way to do this is to get the word out.

    Go, Rafi, Go!

    rafi    Sep 11, 01:51 PM
  108. There are a number of common points in this huge thread.

First, it’s a list of complainers more than a list of satisfied customers, so the complains have to be taken with a grain of salt.

If your neighbor complains that he went to a restaurant where the food was bad, the price too, high and the service poor, would you stop going out to eat at all restaurants? No. You’d be more careful about where, and may even avoid the restaurant your neighbor visited, but it wouldn’t prevent you from dining out. One bad experience with Burger King does NOT condemn all Burger Kings or all fast food joints. It’s often true that you get what you pay for.

Second, it’s obvious that Re Bath is a franchise operation, which means the quality of the work is ONLY as good as the franchise and their workers, which may, or may not be representative of Re Bath installs in your area. Hint: check around your area, ask Re Bath for referrals. If customers rave, use the local contractor. If not, keep looking. Again, the quality of the work is more related to the quality of the worker.

Finally, the point somewhere above about Home Depot only using second level contractors is a point well taken. The best contractors have plenty of work and usually charge more. The rest work for Sears or Home Depot or others that feed them work.

So many of the above posters are complaining about Re Bath, when the real problem may be more representative of a number of Re Bath’s franchise operations.

As with everything else these days, choose wisely.

  109. We have a Re-Bath appointment tonight that I am calling and cancelling as we speak. I had hesitations about them after the pushy rep at Home Depot cornered us and made things sound to good to be true. I think I will just go the old fashioned way and have a licensed plumber install a new tub.

    — Kim in CT    Sep 26, 12:13 PM
  110. I have to say, it is disheartening to read such things about these compaines. I am a recently disabled man that had a very long career in the construction industry. As with all diseases, you really never expect something like that to happen to you while you are so young. I shopped around our local market here in Colorado Springs and found a few people that do bathrooms and had believe it or not, six estimates!!! I am special needs in that I cannot bend my legs and my wife cannot lift me into the tub. THis is not only disheartening but also enough to send my esteem to the bitter brink.
I had the contractor friend show me some stuff he picked up at a homeshow on a thing called a Safety Tub, and it was cool!!!! I thought this might be it. I found two companies that did it and I have to say the first was a ‘slick willy’ salesman that had a huge gold ring on and was just your typical car salesman. He said what I needed to do. I wont ever bad mouth anuyone, as it is not my way but he was cheaper than the two estimates but, long story short, he made me feel like crap afterwards telling hwat I had to do and not what I wanted to do.
The Rebath guy Dave, who, to my surprise, is the owner, came over and really, really talked to me. I think it was the first time that someone explained thing to me without looking at my chair. He explained his own mother or father are disabled and knew told me what they did. Then he ASKED me what I wanted to do. I felt a bit adrift as I didnt know what to do anymore because I was soooooooooo confused from the other guys. He stayed for nearly two hours and we just talked, and he was literally just a good guy and was just as interested in me as his product.
THe job was installed today and I wanted to just get on here and say that everyone is different. This bathroom is really the bathroom of my dreams. It literally made me so happy, I broke down. It just feels good. I have felt so crappy for so long, it is just nice to have something good.

I feel really bad for the people on here who have had a bad experience, that stinks. I am just saying I had a great one and you know what, people dont hear that enough.

  111. had rebath do my bathroom in southern tier of new york state. Seams in corner leaked after 6 months. My neighbor had bathfitter for 5 years and looks brand new. Had bathfitter redo my walls and have not had a problem since.

  112. Rebath of DFW did a really poor job. And when I went to complain. The company went out of business and the salesman quit. The home office said someone else would take care of it and after ten calls nothing came of it. SCREWED in DALLAS

    John    Oct 5, 01:47 PM
  113. It is very scary how many of the complaints in this blog are so similar or even are the same as the awful experience we had when we unfortunately hired Re-Bath to make over our bathroom. We wish we had found this information prior to contracting with Re-Bath. We would have known to stay clear.

A point in the discussion was made about the franchises responsibility to do the job, and how the work is only as good as the franchise. Well, we found out firsthand the corporate parent Re-Bath LLC is not a good company to deal with. The way we see it, the dishonesty, bad customer service and sub-standard quality of workmanship and materials trickles down from the top and is the common factor throughout the ripping-off of their customers. And the fact that two separate franchises both screwed up, lied to us and tried to rip us off is also demonstrative of the constant of bad ethics and exceedingly poor skills to do the installation we found from every person we dealt with at the franchise level.

But the corporate side is by far the worst. We recognize people listed here and have documentation of the deception and downright fight they waged to not take responsibility for anything. Even though all of the damage they caused was 100% of Re-Bath’s doing.

For more information, take a look if you desire. Here is a link to our blog chronicling the awful experience we received by dealing with Re-Bath, including two franchises and the corporate people.

This link takes you to the most current post: http://rebathripoff.blogspot.com/

This is a link to the first post: http://rebathripoff.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Avoid Re-Bath, we regret ever calling them. They always came late, made and left messes, blamed us for their mistakes, did thousands of dollars of damage to our home, refused to pay, caused us immense inconvenience and even sued us before they even completed the job. The Re-Bath representative lied in court under oath, with ethics like that, who can believe a word any of them say?

    Hal    Oct 8, 06:07 PM
  114. being the wife of an old employee of re bath of the ozarks i can say that the way the business is ran is a joke. My husband was coming home always complaining that things were not being ordered right and they would have to take someone elses materials to complete a job. His checks were always the wrong amount and was told at times that he would get the rest of his check on the following payday because they could not afford to reimburse him then. Upon him leaving, the company didnt have the funds to certify two people so they had forged documents saying those two people was someone else that had already completed the certification. I would advise anyone to be careful using this company that lives in this area they will be put on a long waiting list and it most likely wont be done in the way you really wanted it done.

  115. Just a strong warning about BayState Rebath as a former installer i must warn you of the Bait and swich practices of Rebath the the sales men are instucted on the high pressure sales promising you everything you want (get it in writing ) if it is not written on the contract you will be charged accordingly also I refused to install a USED corner shelf on a job (it had been previously installed inanother customers house for over amonth and was covered in soap scum the owners of rebath instructed me to install it in someone elses home (how discusting can you be) I asked for a new one and was told to install it or i would be fired people please inspect all materials before letting BayState Rebath install anything in your home

    Jack    Oct 15, 06:01 PM
  116. My boy friend signed a contract with Rebath in April and now it’s mid-October and they are still putting off doing the job. They asked for money up front and got it and they still haven’t come to do the job. We are giving them one more chance and then it’s to the BBB and possibly the Washington State Attorney General, or our attorney.

    — Sharon    Oct 17, 03:08 AM
  117. wished id known about rebath before , spent 10,000 and it is the worst job ive ever seen, do not do it. buyers beware of rebath.we are in west texas

    mary    Oct 17, 11:36 PM
  118. Our opinion-DON’T use Rebath. We are in WA state & signed a contract w 1/2 down in April ’08, finally got installed mid July & was charged balance of bill. Rebath botched install job. Now end of Oct. 08 and still no resolution. Already filed BBB complaint & thinking of WA State Attorney General.

    Laura    Oct 21, 06:55 PM
  119. I just got a quote from re-bath and it was around $6500 for a shower. It seems steep and they said their Spartech product is non-pourous and will last a lifetime. I doubt they have any special non-pourous material that I couldn’t buy cheaper fro another bath store.
I won’t be calling them back.

    — Mike    Nov 1, 03:51 PM
  120. Wow. I almost contacted Re-Bath to redo three of my bathrooms. Not anymore!!! Thanks for all of the information!

    — Kara    Nov 18, 03:00 PM
  121. I wish I could I seen these blogs before I had re-bath redue my bathroom. I am in the process of trying to get my money back. The work was terrible and the city plumbing inspector was called because the plumbing was poorly done and not up to code. The plumber was not even license nor was the installer that did the actual work. I wish I would have investigated them more. For those that read this do not use re-bath and beware of the price gauging.

    Lauri    Nov 20, 06:32 PM
  122. We went to a home show and talked to ReBath and were considering having them do some work on our bathroom, but not after seeing all the complaints. We also talked to Home Depot once about replacing a sliding glass door for us and thought they were asking WAY too much! So glad we didn’t do either. Thank you everyone for your experience. Gotta love the internet.

    — Chris    Dec 5, 03:23 PM
  123. I ordered a re-bath in Washington State on Oct 3rd 2008, they were to have tub ready by 1st of Dec. I called the 2 numbers on the contract and they have been disconnected. I called the national number and they say the franchise is having financial trouble and they are debating how to handle it. Hold on and be patient they tell me. I am not happy with this Re-bath store in Everett Washington. I am trying to get my install done or a refund so I can go another route as I have paid 1900 down. I was nervous during the sales pitch and should have followed my instincts.
    Buyer beware!

    Terry    Dec 9, 06:56 PM
  124. I also put in a deposit like Terry and I am waiting on an answer from the Re-Bath corporate offices. I would suggest paying a little more and getting a licensed contractor to do this type of work…dealing with Re-Bath has been a ridiculous experience for me and many others!

    Dan    Dec 9, 07:04 PM
  125. WORKED FOR CT.RE-BATH OWNER AT ANOTHER LINER CO. HE IS TRULLY OFF HIS ROCKER. AND WILL HAVE HIS ESTIMATERS SAY ANY LIE TO MAKE A SALE. JUST CHECK CT. BBB

    — JOE    Dec 11, 12:51 PM
  126. Had Re-Bath in Camarillo do one of our bath/showers and were very happy with the work. We live in Southern California and we were very happy to see that our installer was a local who spoke English and did a great job. He cleaned up well and we have not had a single problem. It sure seems easy to look at all these complaints and draw an opinion, but since this is a National franchise that has done a huge number of jobs, and this is a board designed for complaining, I have to agree with JOhn Doe above. We love our new bathroom. Keep up the good work Re-Bath

    Renee    Dec 13, 06:51 PM
  127. Originally had bathtub and surround; and shower surround installed early July 2008. Starting October 2008, caulking of bathtub surround started receding from bathtub and wall. Also caulking in shower started receding at base of shower pan, corners of shower, and from around corner wall unit. Notified Rebath, Everett mid-October 2008 of situation. Made five different appointments to have somebody come out to fix the problem—nobody would show up at scheduled appointment time. I also called the owner and left a message—he didn’t return my call. I contacted Better Business Bureau, at which time Rebath Everett was a member. I have since been notified by BBB that Rebath is no longer a member of BBB and since they have not responded to my claim that my claim is now closed. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND REBATH, EVERETT!!!

    Margaret    Dec 24, 05:04 PM
  128. Rebath installation. 1. The salesman misquoted me and Retabh of Hamden became absolutely beligerent and rude, screaming at me over the phone. Even the installer, Sam, asked me why I answered the phone and told me not to talk to him. Now, what does tell us about Rebath. They have been out 2 times for recaulking- which they claimed was bad caulk.
    3. The tub drain won’t stay open and will not drain unless propped up.
    4. They ordered the wrong color material for which I was given $200.00 consideration, or wait 12 more weeks.
    3. The install date was 5/23, and they did not show until 6/17. Meanwhile, I had already ripped out my toilet and sink per their instructions. I was without a bathroom for 3 weeks.
    5. Today I discovered that the tub liner is buckling. What is causing this?
    6. The shower doors leak and cause my floor to become soaked.
    7. Forgot to mention that they chipped my new tile floor which cost $1000.00. They chipped it iwth the bathtub liner in two places.
    8. the install took 3 days, not 1, as quoted.
    9. My tub faucet is beginning to gush drips of water intermittently.
10 I will be contacting the Dept of Consumer Protection in CT, and my attorney to sue them.

    mj    Dec 24, 08:30 PM
  129. You really do have to research your local Re-Bath. They are all owned by seperate people and you can’t base one bad experience with a certain franchise to the Re-Bath in a whole. When done right the Re-Bath product is GREAT!!! Hearing an experience like this would certainly make you want to sway away from Re-Bath all together, but each is different. They are all ran by seperate people and ran differently. I don’t blame the customers that have had a bad experience at all. They should have made it right, regardless if it is their fault.(Customer is always right!!) There are very satisfied people out there that have worked with Re-Bath as well. I am employed with Re-Bath and speak with very satisfied customers all the time. I think it is more of a customer service issue than anything. You should always try to make the consumer happy. That is the difference.

    Victoria    Jan 6, 04:18 PM
  130. I was considering using Re-bath for our bathroom. Will be steering clear now. Sounds like it would be cheaper to just buy a new tub and surround!

    Thanks all!

  131. Wow I was going to call Rebath and came on line to find their number,,,After reading all of this, there is NO WAY I would touch them with a 10 foot pole. Bet ya this persons initial posts has cost them thousands…they should have made it right. Thanks but NO THANKS!

kathy malaspina    Jan 20, 06:26 AM
  132. WOW! I was considering REBATH after seeing their TV commercial. I tried to go their web site. Will not connect! Then I found this site. They are a RIP-OFF in capital letters. I will never consider this company nor will I ever recommend it! In fact I’ll spread the word NOT TO consider this company.
The comment about dealing with Home Depot and their contractors is something to consider. Why do they work through Home Depot and not for themselves. I recently did a kitchen remod. Went to Home Depot to consider price, cabinet choice, availability, and ease of working with them. NO GO! Went to local contractor and they worked with me and gave me a better price, more choice, better quality, they took on all liability and doubled checked my measurements. I choose to do the work myself and the local contractor walked me through the process without any additional cost. They also expedited delivery with cabinet manufacture but also ran interference when the order came in wrong. I was told by Home Depot that when I buy the cabinets (even if they install) I was totally responsible to expedite and correct problems with manufacturer. Do your homework and investigate contractors BEFORE you sign on the dotted line!!!

    Norm    Jan 30, 09:13 AM
  133. I just signed a contract with rebath and am in the three days to cancel. Home Depot customer service is so bad which is why they may be doing so poorly financially. I am going to immediately cancel the order. thank you all good consumers for letting the rest of us know.

  135. I’m in Maplewood MN, (St Paul burb). I’d love to get a new tub/surround but I don’t have thousands to pay. Any suggestions? I was going to call Rebath but not now.

    Joan    Feb 8, 07:01 PM
  136. I agree Home Depot is awful. I had a situation where I wanted to build a Kitchen Living room pass through 6ft x 2.5 ft. So I went to home depot to look at the Granite I could order and it mentions price per sq ft. I talk with a man and showed him my plans and I told him I would be back next week to order it. So next week comes I cut this hole in my wall move duct work/ electrical and dry walled it. I go up about two weeks ago to order it because they where running a special on free edging, I then talk to a man saying depending on what I order there is a min sq ft. I tell him well how am I to know which one? He then proceeds to tell me $1000 min order. I then get furious because there is no sign stating that. I then ask for a manager and I proceed to tell her no one mentioned this previously plus there is no sign stating that. She tells me she understands and she will find out of there manufacture and call me back. I eventually call back Monday because she never did call and she mentions we tried to call yesterday to tell you the manufacture won’t make anything that small. I got more furious knowing she lied because there not open on Sundays. I left a message with the store manager and corporate, nothing. No response. I left a comment on there site and they promised a 50 gift card, which I’m still yet to receive and doubt its coming to this point. It costed me a lot more to go to an actual granite place and I can’t even get the edging I want because it’s nearly $200 more. I can tell you one thing they lost a customer. I also intend publishing my story in the local paper for leaving this unresolved.

  137. We had some counters installed in our home and when the guy came with the template he dragged it accross the floor and put a cut across our hard woods and then went into a frantic mode when I said look at what you did. The guy scared me with his attitude that I said nothing else. I am dissatisfied with home depot. Will not have work done with them at any time.

  139. Update Terry in Seattle (see original post number 123).

Re-Bath corporate did do my installation for the Everett Re-bath that went out of business. They did a great job and we are very happy that the Re-bath Corporate crowd took care of us.

  146. Well it’s March of 2009 now and Rebath of Colorado Springs still hasn’t met their contractual obligations or ordered the correct supplies for our house. We have been given the run around from Corporate and now the owner of Rebath of Colorado Springs is posting horrible comments about us online and telling the public what we paid them. This is so unethical and we couldn’t believe their Corporate office lets its Franchises act in such ways and say horrible things about their own customers on internet sites. Then to top it all off the owner of Rebath of Colorado Springs had his attorney send us a letter threatening to sue us for defamation, libel and slander because we reported it to the police, filed complaints with the BBB and contacted a reporter to see if they wanted to cover the story. We told them they can go ahead and file their suit and at this point we hope they do because we would love the public to know how they have treated us! The owner now gets on yelp and makes awful postings about us and insults us like three times a day! How childish! We will post the letter from the lawyer and pictures of how they left our house soon so people can see what they did to us!

  147. Well, since my original post (#95) I have taken over the service manager position for NW Florida, and I can only speak for myself, but it is just as important to keep a prior customer happy as a new one… maybe even more so. It is all about customer service. Your next job is only as good as your last, and hopefully better. Unfortunately, we find ourselves in ‘an employers market’ meaning that only the good survive. I have to go out on occasion and resolve the problems that were left behind by previous installers, but, I know that our intergrity is based on good customer service AFTER the sale. I truly feel for those that have had bad experiences with ANY company after they have offered up their hard earned money. I too feel the bite of the times, and have elderly parents, and any time that I get a service call, I put myself or my parents in their position and make it a point to rectify the problem as fast as possible.
Agreed, there do seem to be some people that just do not want to be made happy, but even then, you try to do the best you can.
Do this though… if calling does not work, if writing does not provide satisfying results, don’t stop. If a company has any hope of surviving this rece… this DEPRESSION, let them know that you demand satisfaction. They/WE will listen. WE depend on you! Without your patronage, we have no future. We do not exist on one job at a time. It may seem at times that your concerns are lost along the way, but without consumers, there is no future for us either.
Granted, our concerns are not yours, but when it is all said and done, many of us depend on one another… our sales on you, our product on our suppliers, for them, maybe their workers, after the fact, me making your experience a happy one, and so on.
Only a really bad contractor would never care about their customers and will never survive in this economy. I know that we have done thousands of installs in my area with few service calls, but those calls that we do have are very important. They may very well lead to the next job. Or the loss of one.
Just try to keep all these comments in perspective. I have my beliefs, just as those who have had bad experiences are deserved of theirs.
    Brett

    Brett    Mar 9, 11:58 PM
  148. Brett it’s good to know somebody cares about their customers. Word of mouth is everything and be sure we are going to continue to stand up for our rights and not be taken advantage of. Boy do I wish we had hired you instead.

    Emily    Mar 10, 02:36 PM
  149. We live in Illinois. We are very pleased with our service from ReBath and the customer service person were very helpful and friendly. We have had no problems with our bathroom and our bathroom was very old!

    — Jody    Mar 12, 03:39 PM
  150. Well our rebath nightmare continues. Now we find out that the owner didn’t even put in rebath product it’s some cheap crap from a nearby store. How dare he cheat us like that!

    Emily    Mar 12, 11:43 PM
  151. We just signed a contract March 11 2009, and now want to cancel. When asked, we were told we had three days to cancel (never what method “verbal or written”). I phoned on march 14 and left a message to cancel. Now march 16 and the manager says if it is not in writing then you are obligated. What ever happened to the motto the customer is always right?? This is re-bath in Havertown, PA an I say steer clear of all of re-bath! We decided that 4700.00 for three walls of plastic and a tub liner is too much money to spend on a 1950’s pink bathroom. It would have cost over 7000.00 to cover all the pink tile which is an additional 4×10 feet of plastic!! Let the buyer be ware!

    George    Mar 16, 11:18 AM
  152. I was considering Re-bath, but after reading these reviews about them and Home Depot I’m definitely looking for some other company. Thanks for all the info.

    — Carol    Mar 16, 02:22 PM
  153. Bathroom Restoration is a company that is locally owned in Springfield MO. Bathroom Restoration is a honest and timely company. They are very reasonable in price. also they SHOW UP on time and communicate with you. If they are not there on the install date they set they will take 100 dollars a day off your purchase price they are not there. They are wonderful to work with.

    Nicole    Mar 18, 10:40 AM
  154. Well I think the point of all this is if you are even thinking of dealing with Rebath, run! Looks like the Colorado Springs Rebath went out of business and alot of people will get ripped off.

    Emily    Mar 25, 11:32 PM
  155. If anyone else got ripped off by the Colorado Springs Rebath going out of business please make a post you are not the only one and there is something you can do about it.

    Emily    Mar 27, 02:50 PM
  156. read the blog post rebathscam at blogspot.com

    Emily    Mar 28, 12:13 AM
  157. Out of millions of bathrooms that rebath has done you people listen to the very very few that post anything on this stupid blog! Come on really? People make mistakes and sounds like they try to work things out, Im a contractor and have been using rebath for 12 years now and i call all my customers back every year to see how things are and they just LOVE! their rebath systems! I recomend rebath everyone i know. For a bathroom to look brand new after 12 years is amazing thats what you get from rebath. So i would hope that people that read all these comments will reconcider and give rebath a chance because they do really good work! Its cheaper than redoin your bathroom 5 times! its a lifetime bathroom!

    Colby    Mar 28, 12:33 AM
  158. Well the Rebath we gave a check to after nine months never even ordered most of our supplies and has conveniently gone out of business. This is a SCAM with a capital S and anyone else who has been ripped off by this place, demand your ordering information you will get it eventually and be able to see the scam for yourselves.

    Emily    Mar 30, 10:49 PM
  159. We too have had a Rebath nightmare! I can’t believe these people are still in business. The franchise treated us like garbage, our bathrooms look awful and the corporate office treated us even worse.

    Candis    Apr 1, 05:19 PM
  160. Boy do we regret having dealt with these people. I wish we had seen these postings before we hired them. Months have gone by, our job is not done and looks awful. We paid good money for stuff that looks like cheap plastic, we thought it would be done in one day, it’s been forever and we still don’t have our warranty. The franchise still expects their money when they haven’t even finished. We will call the corporate office but from the sound of this blog it doesn’t look like it will do any good.

    Judy    Apr 2, 12:21 AM
  161. I was just doing some research to have my bathroom done as we just bought a house that needs updating. I wouldn’t hire these people if they offered to do it for free. I’ve never seen so many similar complaints about one company from the bottom to the top. I am an electrician and I can guarantee you these people going out to work on people’s homes aren’t properly trained.

    Rodriguez    Apr 2, 09:10 PM
  162. after reading what everybody has to say. i would like to put my two cent worth in. every rebath and bathfitters are different. and we were considering using rebath to remodel our bathroom but we wont be using any of them. we would rather do it our selves then take the risk that something will eventually go wrong with rebath or bathfitters and cost us more money and time off of work to fix. so we are going to lowes instead and good luck to those out there who are unhappy with rebath and bathfitters. all the advice i can give is dont give up or settle for a $200.00 gift card from home depot. thats just INSULTING!!! that they would offer that like it was going to fix everything. come on how stupid do the companies think we are?

    — M & J    Apr 4, 05:20 PM
  163. This company obviously has no ethics and should not be dealt with. The response they gave to the problem is an insult. Customer Service is everything and they will not last long with that attitude.

    — anonymous    Apr 4, 10:44 PM
  164. I am a lawyer. Although I practice in criminal defense,I have some knowledge of these kinds of situations and it sounds like many of you need to get an attorney and stand up to these people. We were researching this type of bathroom fix as we don’t have time to have our home ripped apart but after seeing these and so many other similar complaints about this company we feel it would be better to take the time off work and hire a real contractor. Thank you to those who take the time to share their experiences with a company because it truly does help other consumers.

  166. Looks like Rebath, LLC is doing some spring cleaning. That must be what they did with the franchise in Colorado because we had just signed a contract with them and all of a sudden they are closed. We gave the owner a deposit and waited forever and never even got so much as a phone call when our job was supposed to be done by then. I’m glad they are shutting down the bad franchises that weren’t doing right by their customers.

    — Anonymous    Apr 9, 11:57 PM
  167. Wow! We had a Rebath Salesman at our home two days ago and were about to call and agree to the stuff! Thank goodness we did some research! There is no way we are getting caught up in one of these nightmares and with all the similar time complaints it looks like they won’t be finished in one day like they said. Thank you the publice for the warning.

    jerry    Apr 18, 11:09 PM
  168. Does anyone know about rebath’s reputation here in California? I have been considering getting a bid from them, but now I don’t know. Too many scary stories.

    PEGGY S.    Apr 21, 02:49 PM
  169. Peggy look at the posting rebathripoff on blog spot it will give you an idea about the CA Rebath and once you read it you will run and not look back! Also, check the BBB and type in the companies name and complaints on google or yahoo to look at their rep.

    — helpingu    Apr 21, 05:07 PM
  170. Rebath Sucks! Our one day makeover turned into a nightmare here in Colorado and now the main office claims these jerks are out of business. God I wish I had read all these postings about these people before I hired them and paid all that money. The owner of the franchise here kept telling us he would pay us our money back for the bad work and lost time and still finish. Poppycock! We have not even half our stuff and now what are we supposed to do? Looks like hiring a lawyer may be in our best interest at this point. I hope this whole franchise deal gets shut down because they care nothing about their customers or even their own reputation for that matter. Maybe they are just trying to see how many people they can rip off and then go out of business.

    — pissed in colorado    May 9, 12:42 AM
  171. Check out the website Rebath Sucks and you will get an even better idea of the scam this place is running and the liars Rebath is!

    — ripped off by rebath    Jun 20, 11:46 PM
  172. Re-Bath product is a rip off! Re-Bath customer service does not exist! Re-Bath testimonials are all fake! Re-Bath reviews are all fake! Re-Bath is the most horrible company I have ever dealt with in my life and if you use them you will be sorry. Calling your local Rebath franchise is a waste of time especially if you have a complaint and the Rebath Corporate Office is even worse. Any Rebath Location in the US does not deserve to be in business they sell plastic crap they cut out in your driveway and glue to the wall and then it falls off in a week, do they fix the problem no way you can forget that warranty they advertise! REBATH = NOTHING BUT A RIP OFF AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BY THE FEDERAL TRADE COMISSION!

    — Another ripped off by Rebath    Jun 22, 11:49 PM
  173. There seems to be more people with problems than those satisfied with this product. I was going to call them but after reading the stories here I am just going to get my plumber put in a new acrylic tub. I know it will take a bit longer and be a bit messier but in the long run I think I will be happier. Thank goodness for google.

    Georgia    Jul 1, 01:38 PM
  174. Well Rebath of Colorado Springs took care of all our issues and we are satisfied.

    Emily    Jul 1, 03:51 PM
  175. Rebath prices were way over what the product is worth. The owner charged our credit card numerous times without permission and we just read on the internet from a Former Employee of Rebath that he was doing it on purpose and hiding from us. Corporate offices know when these things happen and this one did nothing to help us. We also read about his bait and switch so now we will check what we have to make sure it is what we got so grossly overcharged for. We will never deal with Rebath again and reccomend nobdoy else does either especially any Rebath Colorado.

    — Rebath Colorado Customer    Jul 10, 10:27 PM
  176. After reading these messages I can only write WOW!!!!

We were going to look into Re-Bath but now will not go near them.

We have had similar experiences with Home Depot and although we will purchase items there we will NOT ever, EVER use their installation services for anything.

For those considering, I would very strongly advise you to check and re-check all their measurements and estimates before signing any documents. Even after signing, get a neighbor to even check yours to make certain that they are accurate and they match the estimates given.

In addition, check and re-check all the workmanship to make certain you are satisfied and if not, immediately begin to complain.

You will get HD customer service reps to deal with you but in many cases they are limited as to what remedies they can offer and the hassles are not worth the effort-particularly since there must be neighbors who have used contractors and found their work to be very satisfactory.

I also suggest you only pay by credit card—at least you will have some opportunity to argue your point to an uninvolved observer.

A wiser customer now!    Jul 11, 09:26 AM
  177. I am going to stay the Hell away from Rebath now. Thank you all for posting, and I am sorry for your nightmares. I have been through that with other companies, so I now do my research. Dave

    Dave    Jul 16, 09:42 AM
  178. I have never seen so many blogs and complaints about a company when I went to research it! there is no way we will consider this place! They really must have pissed off alot of people and it looks like all over the US not just in one place. We will no longer consider them for our multiple bath remodel.

    — Holy Moly    Jul 26, 03:25 PM
  179. Ok listen up all you unsatisifed rebath customers. You are absolutely correct. The bathroom remodeling business is not something an unempolyed person off the street can perform. it takes years of experience. i have been an independent general contractor for 33 years that does tub reglazing and remodeling. i can tell you that it is such an intensely tcchnical process that one needs vast experience to do the job right. i have seen this senerio before, big investment,, lots of advertising and take all the suckers you can before going bankrupt. my advice to all of you, hire a qualified independent contractor or tub reglazer. thebathtubguys.com

  180. We just signed a contract with rebath, under pressure, and now I wish I had not. I wonder if I should try to cancel it. I don’t know if I even can!

    — AB    Aug 5, 07:54 PM
  181. We signed up with Re-bath of Rhode island more than two months ago and were promised they’d do the work within six weeks. When the due date passed and we heard nothing from them we called—six times before we heard back. They still had no due date for us, and when we demanded our money back the contractor sneered that we were stuck. Home Depot also not responsive. STAY AWAY from this company and stay away from Home Depot. I’m going to go to small claims court to get my money, even if I have to spend money to sue them, I will.

    Susan    Aug 6, 09:23 AM
  182. Rebath never started our job either and makes all these excuses that are crap! We will spend the money to sue too.

    — Pissed    Aug 14, 10:35 PM
  183. The main thing was speed of installation and excellent work. HA! It has been nearly a month, and not finished…Looked better before they started. My custom trim is ruined. Floors scratched and dented and I still do not have a Vanity top. Shaving out of the kitchen sink and using wifes bathroom. Products installed covered up with sealer. Stil not finished, and I do not know how to get trim to match up th Rebaths installation. Cost 7000.00 for about a 1000.00 job. My fault, I did not feel like checking them out. My advice: GET YOURSELF A

Charles Gibbens    Aug 19, 11:07 AM
  184. I asked Rebath to renovate my bathroom. They said they can only do so if my husband okays it. WTF? I make excellent money and can afford to remodel my house and my husband works 12 hours a day 7 days a week. The last thing he wants to think about is how “I” want the bathroom. Excuse me but I am a capable woman in makeing our family decissions. By the looks of these posts, they did me a favor. I would have gladly given them 15 grand to renovate and they wouldnt even talk to me. I see why they dont need the money, they are busy ripping other people off.

  187. Signed a contract w/ Rebath franchise in Havertown, PA thru Home Depot. Was told the wait for install was app. 7 wks. At 8 weeks,
    called them and was told
they were still waiting on a part but I was: “still within timeframe of my contract
of 7-10 wks. At 10 weeks
no calls/contact from them so I told Home D. I
    wanted to cancel. Recv’d
callback (4-way recorded) from store mgr. and other Home D. rep and they had Rebath installer on the line who stated install was ready!! Amazing! He then
    said they’d been trying
to contact me to do a final “measurement” prior to install. This was an outright lie as I’d not gotten ANY calls
or msgs. and I called him on it. He then actually tried to shout me down and provoked me
citing the damned “contract”!! I told the Home Depot mgr.
the deal is off and I don’t want Rebath in the door. Have cancelled
the deal in writing and am still waiting for the
charge to be removed from my credit card. (Have paid nothing on it yet). Have also seen
other postings about lies, shoddy work from
    Rebath in Havertown.

  188. I would like to say a few things about Re-bath. Just so all you nay-sayers, and potential customers realize, REBATH is a FRANCHISE.. meaning every city and state is going to be different. So it would be unfair and narrow minded to rule out rebath all together in your area without doing research. i.e Better business bureau. For example if a McDonalds in New Jersey had slow service and cold food, would you swear off McDonalds in Maine?.. prolly not.. We had work done by our local rebath and we had outstanding customer service and the overall product looks amazing. Rebath is far superior from the inital contact, to the sales presentation, all the way to today. They have WAY more colors and choices than Bathfitter did.

    Frank    Sep 15, 04:44 PM
  189. Just cancelled a job interview with Re-bath in Salt Lake City. Sales is hard enough without starting out with a company that has a bad rep. Thanks for the heads-up!

  190. has anyone used homedepot HOME SERVICES to reface their cabinets in San Diego?

    lora    Sep 26, 09:09 PM
  191. Rebath ripped us off bigtime!!! Job took two months to put in one tub and wall surround! They tore up our floors, did things uneven and did not seal properly so water gets into everything. Guess what folks no Rebath warranty for anything and no discount for starting a month late and taking two months to finish. We could have paid a real remodeler and had it done in a week with much less headache and it would have cost less. Stay away from Rebath!

  194. I own a small Plumbing Buss.in TX. Rebath has contacted me for a franchise for them, after reading all of these complaints I don’t think we will be doing there work. However I am just wandering are these installers licensed plumbers,(they should be). The cost that you all seem to be paying for these, I think you could in some places replace your old one for a new one installed. Maybe I don’t charge enough for my services on tub change outs. I’m out here to make a living not rip people off. Some of you have done the right thing in contacting the BBB. But in any plumbing repairs take one more step ask for a licensed plumber to do the work. In the state of TX if a customer ask for a license the plumber must show them, Furthemore the company has to have a RESPONSIBLE MASTER PLUMBER. There are alot of handyman plumbers that are not licensed nor insured. (Mr.customer beware). I know that I can’t please everybody, but at least I try.

    Joe G.    Oct 25, 11:22 PM
  195. Thank you all for the warnings. I have read all the postings and have decided against using REBATH for my bath remodel. I will use a certifed licenced plumber to do the work. No sence throwing good money away on a “maybe ok” contractor.

    Will    Dec 1, 10:04 AM
  196. Wish I had read these first. Rebath did two bathrooms for us. Contracted in May of 2008. Work wasn’t done until October 2008. They sent two men who had just completed training instead of the experts we were told would be doing the job. Brought the wrong tub the first time. I have cuts that are not straight, caulking that looks sloppy, and walls that are not flat. The materials seem to be good, it’s the workmanship that’s bad. Home Depot gave us the $200 refund I guess they give everybody that complains. Then, they charged my credit card twice for the one half deposit I had to put down. It is now a year since the job was done. I would think twice about doing this again. It was expensive and aggravating and I still feel like I did not get what I paid for. I understand the franchise we used on Route 22 in New Jersey has changed hands. I hope the new owner is better than the old one.

    Nancy    Dec 8, 08:22 PM
  197. Thank you for your blog Rafi. I have been considering RE-BATH for quite some time now but haven’t actually searched for any blogs about them. I live in Southern California. Anybody out there have had their bathrooms re-done by RE-BATH here in San Diego?

    — Zenaida    Dec 29, 01:25 PM
  198. Three roofs huh? Guess you did not learn the first time. Or maybe you are one of those people who complain about everything in order to try to get work done free! It’s the technician you should be looking toward. But yes the company should stand behind whom they hire.

Jon Lucero    Jan 7, 12:15 AM
  199. Remember guys , bath fitter and re bath sell plastic..Yes its plastic. They both say they have acrlyic, but plastic by any other name is plastic. Oh yea, and remeber this as well. The BBB is also a franchise, making money by soliciting businesses. If you dont joing their club, they will imply negative things about your company by stating on the recording something like” We have contacted this company several times and have requested information about this company. As to date, this company has refused to give us any information.” If you join their club you get good ratings. Lets say you are a member of the BBB and your company receives a complaint from a dissatisfied customer. The BBB gives the paying member the opportunity to respond to the complaint. No matter how the issue is resolved by the unhappy customer and the paying member belonging to the good ole boy network of the BBB, you will be considered in good standings with the BBB. I was a senior estimator for Bath Fitter and the actual cost of the plastic they manufactor is pennies. I dont mind a profit, but selling a cheap plastic to go over a mess in the first place cannot produce a lasting result. I had to resign my position because my conscience was getting to me. Charging thousands for something that costs less than $400.00 and being called and estimator when in fact, we were trained to do what is called in the bidness “A ONE CALL CLOSE” FINALLY GOT TO ME. Remember, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is!!!!

    Bill    Jan 8, 02:06 PM
  200. To everyone,

Why in the world someone would cover up their old tub with a coating such as that offered by Re-tub and others is well beyond my understanding. The cost of simply replacing your tub and surround is less expensive, or in the worst case scenario, slighty more expensive than these cover up options. Also, keep in mind that Home Depot and the other “Big Boxes” use contractors that, in most cases, are not capable of getting their own work due to inexperience or lack of customer satisfaction. You’re not going to get a better price or higher quality workmanship just because you use Home Depot (or any of the other “Big Boxes, for that matter). I’ve been a contractor for over 25 years, and care greatly about my customers satisfaction. Too many people (and big corporations as well) care about one thing only, and that is how to seperate you (the customer) from your hard earned money. With no real regard to your satisfaction, I might add. Hats off to Bill, Rafi, and others who point out the obvious. For Frank who set all of us nay-sayers straight, yes, I hold the Franchise itself responsible! It’s their job to insure that all of their Franchises abide by a particular level of customer satisfaction and set of business ethics. If I see something on one of my jobs that isn’t right, I take the initiative and fix it myself. How embarrasing is it when the customer has to tell you (the paid professional) how to do your job. Thanks, James

  201. I guess I should have put my name down as SUCKER because I got suckered on this tub liner also. I’m so disgusted to read the comments from the former sales people of these companies. I have had my liner for several years and yes it failed sending water in between the liner and the tub. Even though I thought it should have been covered under warrenty the first time the company said no and I was charged to have the water drained and dried and re-caulked. It was a battle just to get them to come out and they really could have cared less. Once again I have water in between the liner and tub. The place has left and only an empty building stands. What a scam!!!! I would not recommend a tub liner to my worst enemy!!!!!

  202. Thank you for your honest comments abt ReBath. I have a 9:AM in-home estimate with one of their rep this Saturday. But after reading this web page I am canceling the appt. Can’t afford to waste my money nor time with greedy people with no intentions of giving quality service. Thanks for sparing me a big disappointment & headache!!!

  204. Not saying that the majority of customers in the real world don’t hate these guys, but ya gotta remember that these are independent franchises and some of them are decent. Plus there will be more complaints than kudos on most blogs because anger is a greater motivator than joy for people to seek out and vent their displeasure. Misery loves company, but happiness loves escapist quietude. I would love to see a neutral independent survey report the overall customer satisfaction with any of these “franchise” contractor outfits. Maybe it is time for everyone to go back to their local handyman and small bookstore. People sure loved the low prices when Walmart, Barnes & Noble and Home Depot seemed to offer such great deals in the 90s. Now everyone is complaining that sellers don’t care about the customers anymore. Chicken, Egg…who abandoned who? Go visit a local shop sometime, ya might actually meet someone who really does care for your business and won’t treat ya like part of the herd. The “Fast Food” in everything mentality has ruined American ingenuity, common sense, personableness, the economy, and the knowledge that we once used to make something outta nothing. Now we whine cause corporate America doesn’t care about us anymore. It’s our fault! You don’t get anything for nothin in this country. The heck with Joe The Plumber, Go see Bob The Builder and get the job done right.

  205. I Did used RE-bath through the HOME DEPot, they did my bath tub in 2005.it was not used much since for some time, when we added four member to family, its started leaking from drain to below bath room, then re-bath fixed in 2007,again it started leaking and collecting in bath tub inside, they just re-did by removing OLD tub and install new tub.I agree re-bath franmchice in hamden is bought over by someone else from prev one.All of sudden after giving so many calls, they showed up yesterday,we have a slot,we are coming now, they landed at 11a.m and finished by 3p.m.

I left sevaral messages to home depot customer service initially when I had water collected in under the tub..its like floating boat,no one showed up for 2months,finally home depot gave this contarct to some other vendor for temp. fix which they did, again started the water collecting under tub.

Its all depends on franchise who took might not do a good job.I hope for the best it will not leak.Highly appreciated who ever helped, but one thing HOME DEPOT should keep in mind, they should keep the customer in loop what ever they are talking to vendors on the Issue.

    Thanks,
    John

  206. My 60 year old mother had these Rebath people send their installers to her home and I was on my day off so when they showed up I asked for their ID. They came very close to refusing them to me which is a bad sign and I ran them thru the department. One was a felon and the other had a class C. I told them to stop and leave. I called the rebath office and they were surprised that I didnt want criminals in my mothers home. I told them to send someone else or we had no business. They had to borrow a couple of guys from another store because they didn’t have anyone to send. Everyone check out you contractors to see that they are screened just don’t take their word for it.

  207. God bless you all for posting all these useful information. Rebath guy was in my house yesterday giving me a quote of $5500 for my small shower. By the time he left, the price went down to $4000. Now they won’t be in my house again even it’s free.

  208. I have dealt with these people and can give you this advice. DONT. But if you have used them use a credit card and will have a chance to protest the charge and if you need to sue them in small claims. It is cheap and I have always felt good about the small claims experience as being fair.

  209. We have been a Rebath dealer for several years and I can tell you that most of these posting are from competitors who post fake complaints and X-employees who have a grudge against Rebath. I also know that some are from customers but they are just picky and can never be satisfied. There are always customers who get in their head that they are buying one thing and get something completely different than what they thought they were getting. Customers are educated during the sales presentation on the fact that Rebath’s value is in the saving of time and the convenience of not doing a complete tear out and replacement. Rebath is just an option. Other bath remodel products can not be installed as quickly as we can install our product but I would agree that many times a new tub would make more sense to install than a bathtub liner. The cost of those alternatives can sometimes even be the same but they take more time to install. We also offer a lifetime warranty and our exclusive Durabath SSP our competitors do not have these. We just present the choice to the customer we don’t make the customer buy. The buying decision always the customer’s choice not ours. There are many more customers who like our Rebath products than don’t so don’t let websites like these convince you into thinking that there isn’t. There might be bad Rebath dealers but for the most part Rebath dealers are just hard working individuals who have invested their time and money into their business and want to do a good job for their customer.

  211. everthing that is written on this site is true and factual. i used to work for a REBATH franchise in Orlando and the crook who by the way has another franchise in New York, sold the one in Orlando. When he sold it, he paid off REBATH corporate, and stiffed all the vendors he owned money to. One of the vendors filed suit against the franchise and includes me in the lawsuit. i now have a $18,000.00 judgement against me for the advertising bill he skipped out on to Scrips Publication. I was his GM until I quit and started my own company 6 months before he sold it.
The judgment now hangs on me, my credit and REBATH corporate refuses to answer my calls. I want to know how a guy like this can still be a franhisee in New York and walk away from his debt, with a profit from the sale. how low!!! believe most if not all of the postings. there true.
