the GBBM has no love for the GBM · by Rafi Kam

Is there an actual Gay Black Blogging Mafia running the Black Weblog Awards or do fans of gay black blogs just vote as a bloc? Remember it was the Mafia that got mayors and even a president elected once as well.

Whatever the case may be, someone who really likes gay blogs really doesn’t like the Ghetto Big Mac. Revolted (ironically) at the thought of packing all that meat into their mouth, adding unsightly saturated fat to their toned gay black blogging waistlines.

^ Got jerked at the Black Weblog Awards. Next year 200 n***az coming with swords

How else does one explain these three pieces being nominated for “Best Original Content” over the Ghetto Big Mac movie or for instance Dallas’s Star Wars piece or hell, the devastating poetic tough love of Earth Girls are Easy from She Real Cool… or, should I go on?

I find my frustration echoed in the interestingly timed goodbye note of one blogger Nova Slim, a tragic story perhaps from one who was never let into the Mafia?

  1. The OhWord sword of sarcastic subtlety cutting deep to the point. When Rafi Kam has your back you never go broke. Thats no brokeback talk.

  2. Thanks for the…”shout”?

The quip about meat may be insulting to the BGBs, but I found it kinda funny. Anyhoo, the BWAs are a pet project of blackgayblogger.com, but I’m not sure that contributes to any impropriety. To that end, enough folks have convinced me not to exit, but also not to give a shit. I’m keeping (and pursuing) a much lower profile.

  3. nova,

I have more thoughts on your goodbye post maybe for an email or they could be inspiration for a future post.

I’m not too familiar with your blog but I’m glad you’re not retiring for the reasons you had stated. I believe that the Zen of blogging is accepting that the benefits often come indirectly and over time.

I caught wind of your blog just a day or 2 ago because you linked to my Panache report post. That shows you have good taste! But when I followed the link I found your retirement announcement…

I was planning on checking out some of your archives today but now the old months are gone. Any plans to bring them back?
