Atlantic Records threatens legal action against legit 2006 hip-hop blogger nominee eskay.
When it comes to stupidity you just can’t beat a record company.
Steely Dan follows up their letter to Luke Wilson with one to director Wes Anderson. These guys are off winning Grammys and such and apparently all they really want to do is write Oh Word style comedy. I love it.
Somewhat related to Wes Anderson… this Rodney kid is an interesting case.
So far his (truly) great contribution to the internet is this screen capture of a PopMatters rejection email from his post “Writin’ Dirty”.
Note the PopMatters editor’s bizarre word choice:
Words such as “should” and “moronic” ring of the observations mentioned, below
That’s damn good found comedy. God bless the child willing to ruthlessly blow up the spot of the editors he desperately aspires to write for.
I get a good vibe off Rodney.. he’s a dumb smart kid with heart. Like the kid from Rushmore – a blend of ego, pathos and the potential for genius. As with Rushmore, Rodney’s arrogant facade dissolves when it becomes clear how much he wants to be validated by others.
I’ve basically already said this to him over IM but I want to reiterate so he knows it’s important. If it’s not a good match, forget Harvard and the established hip-hop media. The world grows increasingly flat and that should be taken advantage of. You can be your own teacher or your own publisher, but it takes work. Get practice, get polished and build something up and people will end up chasing you instead of the other way around.
And that’s one to grow on…
“You can be your own teacher or your own publisher, but it takes work. Get practice, get polished and build something up and people will end up chasing you instead of the other way around.”
^that’s not just word, that’s Oh Word!
