On some Link to the Past shit
I’m not the guy who’s constantly on the blogosphere so I usually let Rafi take care of the shoutouts, but a few bigger names and a comic strip came through with some exceptional posts this week and I gotta give props.
First, the best of Dallas Penn is on some other shit. Now I think we’ve bigged up dude’s site to the point where our praise is background noise but the Decep-era articles on there are gold no matter how many times they’re posted.
Next, in addition to Cocaine Blunts, his XXL blog and a large contentious collective project which we both somehow got roped into, Noz somehow found the time to write a write-up chronicling the entire frigging Dungeon Family. I’m usually at least aware of the b-teamers in these large crews but I actually learned some shit with this one which is pretty much the highest praise I can give to any rap related writing. Some of this shit is pretty obscure, makes me wonder who has the deeper catalogue of associates: DF or Wu-Tang? I think the Wu’s got quantity but Organized Noize has been involved with most of the first generation Dungeon material so score one for Atlanta.
Third, have you read Sinfest recently? You really should. Since artist Tasuya Ishida re-launched the site a month ago the strip has been on fire like a bad Lloyd Banks song (in a good way) and has been delivering the funny daily. While I’m not a fan of most webcomics, Sinfest goes up there with Get Fuzzy, Pearls before Swine and the very missed Boondocks as one of the few strips I still care about.

Yes, mos def enjoyed the DF piece on XXL! I haven’t seen some of those videos in a while and didn’t know Sleepy had any live performances from his from Vinyl Room…
