also caught out there · by Rafi Kam

Late to the party but still missing the joke

The obviously corrupt Janet Jackson shills (no sellout) over at Greasy Guide give their analysis of the Hip Hop Weekly cover.

My thoughs:

This looks like a cross between The Source and Star magazine. This could be a good idea but it’s probably in the wrong hands.

True, the swarmy jokesters at Idolator are probably not the best people to be running this magazine. Good thing this was just an obvious spoof!

On my own jock still / cuz if I don’t say I’m the best tell me who the hell will

Delusions of grandeur? Some people at run-of-the-mill blogs really think they’re bringing the world EXCLUSIVES.

The purported leak of Jay-Z’s “Show Me What You Got” brought out a few of these.

Like at Hip Hop Ruckus:

I had the article up here talking about the leak of “Show Me What You Got” by Jay-Z from his upcoming album Kingdom Come, but I’m not going to talk about or post that shit, because you’ll probably read it somewhere else. So I went and copped the song myself just so you, my readers could listen to the track….Let me know you think…and remember where you heard it first!!!

Post defies logic. We’ll probably read about it somewhere else but no way will we see the mp3 somewhere else? If you copped it, wasn’t it already easily available?

Better yet, was the now deleted Bronx Rap post titled “Please Be Patient”.

Hitting us with that tech gobbledygook, the post informed us that “The feds shut down one of our audio feed domains because of the Jay Z leakage situation.”

In a different deleted post they actually did post up an RIAA cease and desist letter about the mp3 file which is pretty startling itself but…

The feds shut down??? Your audio feed domains??

Cipha, don’t get gassed!!!!!!

With past post titles like “Hands Down We Are The Best” (also deleted) and “People ask me why BronxRap.com is so Ill”, is it any wonder that you’re on the RIAA’s radar? Remember, real bad blogs move in silence.

  2. Oh…word..Well, the staff saw you taking shots at the us, so we thought we fire back. Hey, at least you went to the site…Saying something though..

  3. Actually the site came to me… That’s the glory of an rss feed-reader.

Fire back? That post was about us? I had no idea and still don’t really see how or why…

We didn’t cover the leak as a story. Delivering the news isn’t our thing. There are enough sites doing that.

  7. No comment on the blog beef.

Just wanted to mention that for the past couple of days when I load any article on OhWord, the page gets cut off after the menu. Its not until I hit refresh that I can see the text of the article. I’m guessing one of the blogads is messing things up. (IE 6, haven’t tested it with firefox)

    Ok, carry on.

  8. Thanks for mentioning, Fresh. I just loaded w/IE and the right column seems to disappear. On mine it seems to cut off after I scroll down and then back up to the top.

    It may be Streampad…

  9. I’m not beefing, just critiquing.

Thanks for pointing out the IE problem.

I’ve removed Streampad for now. Lets see if that solves it.

    Rafi    Oct 12, 03:50 PM
  10. You’ve been using streampad for awhile, right? I haven’t had this problem up until yesterday (that I can remember).

Site just loaded fine for me now, so maybe that was it.
