the voice of dissent · by Rafi Kam

NYOIL and Mr. Long both have the same message for rappers of today

NYOIL – Lynched
Another shout to Unkut here because I’m pretty sure Robbie started this meme last week.

NYOIL’s video for Lynched was banned from YouTube apparently for its controversial imagery. We’ve been talking at Oh Word for a while about how the world needs more songs that call people out for Fakin the Funk so we’re supporting…

NYOIL’s MySpace Page

Interviewed at Unkut

They call me MISTER Lawnge Long!

Also fed up with the state of things is Black Sheep’s Mr. Lawnge who apparently used a spell-check and changed his moniker to Mr. Long.

Long has an album out called Class of 89, a title which gives you a good idea of Long’s mission to bring the listener back to a better time. Stepping out as a solo artist means Long has to carry the load himself as an MC which was never his role in Black Sheep.

The audio samples at CD Baby are surprisingly fresh and I’m going to order this album as soon as my next paycheck clears.

There’s a very good interview with Long up at AltRap.
