B. Sigel v. K. Feder: Data to Ponder · by David Donald

This week’s Soundscan (courtesy of the mostly literate folks at Urban Connects) shows that the newly dumped Kevin Federline’s album came out the gate with about 6,500 sales (#151 on the top 200). He’s been pretty hyped, maybe hyped enough to be the ultimate weed carrier.

A couple slots down the charts we see Beanie Sigel opening with 5,000 scanned sales of his mixtape. I’m not sure how reliable Soundscan is for a niche product like this, but it’s interesting that Sigel’s zero-promotion street release managed to equal this generation’s putative Vanilla Ice in terms of sales.

Bonus Beatz:
Ever wonder what EPMD’s “Chill” would sound like as fast rap?

Yeah, uh, me neither.

That’s why I used some rudimentary Windows Media Player filters to make this. I was lazy on the mixing and it came out a little quiet so you might have to turn your speakers up a notch to really feel the madness. It makes you want to dance: EPMD – Chill (Unscrewed Mix).

  1. Well if it’s any indication, I reviewed the Beanie Sigel mixtape and not the K-Fed album.

  2. That B Sigel album is soundscanned through “mixtape” spots. Like the old Beat Street, Burkina, The Basement. You know those spots have the soundscan ability but still got that street edge. 5k isnt bad for Beans at all on a mixtape. When Im sure it was only in the greater north east.
