Hey there little rich kid, what’s your beef?
I don’t keep track of rappers’ death dates (though I do bump Ready to Die on March 9th) but when XXL astutely noted that the Gravediggaz’ Poetic passed away 6 years ago, I had to give the man some shine. Always a personal favorite, The Grym reaper had flows for days and more than held his own on the mic against the Rza and Stetsasonic’s Frukwan.
I figured I’d stick to some lesser known material from the group’s later days and early demos released as part of Prince Paul’s Hip Hop Gold Dust, but if for some reason you don’t own the first two Gravediggaz albums, check out the aforementioned XXL post for some dope Hip Hop.
Gravediggaz – From the Dark Side (From the Tales from the Hood soundtrack)
DJ Honda ft Gravediggaz – We Run Shit
Gravediggaz ft Craig G – Don’t Be Affraid of the Dark
Gravediggaz – Constant Elevation (alternate version demo)
boh i had upped some gravediggaz a bit ago. here’s a link:

GRAVEDIGGAZ! During Common’s live performance, he uses the beginning and end of “Diary of Madman” during his song “Testify.” I just saw him on Friday so this was fresh in my head. My only question, in regards to less known tracks, is how can i FREAK THE SOCCEREESS! Woo!

poetic was definitely one of the best, and he’s sorely missed.
