The cleanest of Hobo’s.
I’m a klepto. Breaks, loops, dialogue…I’ll jack it all without a second thought. So when the homie Cleanhobo from Philaflava posted this excellent CMW mix, I had to give it the proper platform so the wider internet could give it a listen. Compton’s Most Wanted are one of those groups that never got their proper due, which is a shame because I couldn’t think of better role models for today’s emcees than a gang of murderous ruthless thugs unconcerned with fashion and appearances but totally dedicated to their hood and this rap shit. They also give me the opportunity to urge these rockstar rappers that nothing screams “Kurt Cobain meets Compton” like one of these shirts, although I live in perpetual fear that some Streetwear company will figure out a way to make 500$ Day-Glo flannel and fuck the whole concept up.
Lumberjack wear aside, props to the Hobo for the mix. While the completionist in me says all of CMW’s albums are worth checking out, realism dictates that this is all the I Pod space CMW will get for most people and as far as compilations go, this is way better than what you’ll find on the actual market.
Also, while you’re bumping this mix, feel free to check out B. Ware tha Siniq’ Hobby in the Lobby. Great minds think alike and he copped Hobo’s mix with the quickness, actually getting it posted while I was still catching Zzz’s. Repay his insolence by checking out their wide variety of high quality mp3s and insightful writing.

How the fuck is tha shit gon’ be officially official without one of their most GANGSTA joints? “Another Victim” Probably my most favoritest CMW track. The Tim Dog dis and transforming on the break makes it ill, ‘chea!!!

Haha, you gotta love the inevitable “but you missed this track” responses.
First off, this mix started as something I threw together for my brother when he requested his favorite MC Eiht & CMW songs. I made a few cuts and additions, but this obviously isn’t a “be all end all” mix. For that I’d need two discs. Any CMW fan already knew that, though.
Either way, I’ll defend my selections: There’s a few reasons I didn’t throw ‘Nothin But The Gangsta’ on this mix. One, I felt like it didn’t flow well with the rest of the songs. Two, I tried to keep the guest artists to a minimum (Scarface being pretty much the only exception, and that’s simply because Face is the greatest rapper of all time). And three, I already had way too many songs from We Come Strapped, which isn’t even an official CMW album anyway.
‘Driveby Miss Daisy’ was tough for me to leave out, but again, I only had 80 minutes and I didn’t want to turn it into a double disc. Same answer applies for ‘Another Victim.’ Obviously both are classic tracks. But I guess the bottom line is, CMW has way too many classic tracks to fit on one disc. Not a bad thing, just a fact.
As far as the original ‘Rhymes Too Funky’ goes: please upload that shit asap. I don’t own a copy of it; just the version that appears on ‘It’s A Compton Thang.’ Much appreciated in advance.
Thanks for checkin’ the mix everybody, and many thanks to Sach for puttin’ this mix out there. Maybe it’ll earn CMW will a few more fans. God knows they deserve it.
