OkayPlayer member uniqueterror posted to YouTube this video of Dilla and Frank from Frank & Dank getting nostalgic for the enjoyment of DJ Rhettmatic.
They talk about Lil Kim taking Dilla out for Chinese food and a lost Biggie / Busta track with Biggie going after 2Pac hard.
I guess it’s not that lost after all because this mp3 is out there but it’s new to me so I figured it might be new to you:

In the video, they say Nas was supposed to be on it too. Unfortunately you get this version with MC Labia Labba instead.
unique terror says the mp3, which re-couples the original dilla beat with the original biggie verse, smells like fish:
From the story, it sounded like the song was never recorded because Busta didn’t want to get in the middle of the Biggie/2Pac beef. “Modern Day Gangstas” is from 2002 and it just uses the “Dangerous MCs” verse and the original Jay Dee beat. Labba is on it and he wasn’t in Flipmode back in 96. Another thing is that Busta’s style on “Modern Day Gangstas” (talking about coca and things of that nature) isn’t the style he used back then (‘The Coming’ came out that year, I believe).
More videos from the Frank N Dank & Dilla European tour can be viewed on the commercially available DVD.
Ten gun salute. New Biggie! Never thought I’d hear it.

Who’s that doing the hook?
— ian Oct 19, 03:22 PM
Baby Sham did the hook. I didn’t realize it until I heard the original version of the song, which has a full verse by him. Roc Marciano (ex-Flipmode, The UN) has a verse on it, too.

Yeah, there’s no way that Busta verse is even pre-2000. Song is hot, though.

I’m smelling fish as well, and also sniff sniff is that desperation?
Come on, Busta!
I mean if you’re gonna orchestrate an elaborate lie for attention at least make it worth the price of admission.
I think its safe to say that everyone’s already sick of new songs that use “Born Again” verses…
But if you’re gonna do it, do it right! Take notes from Ghostface. He didn’t throw Sun God or even Trife on the track with BIG, he went to Rae-fucking-kwon.
I mean, throw Nas or some other A list rapper on this and you’ll have a publicity stunt everyone can be proud of…

goddamn this joint is crazy! i remember hearing this on some mixtape mad years ago, but it was real low quality and it was only the biggie verse on there.. then i heard that verse again on the “Born Again” CD. This is crazy, all these years ive wanted the original version of the joint!
bigg up!
