Remember We?
The Bush Babees were a ’90s rap trio (Mr. Man, Lee Majors, and Y-Tee) who represented for Flatbush, Brooklyn by way of Jamaica and Trinidad and are sometimes named as members of the extended Native Tongues Posse. They released two well-recieved if not enormously lucrative albums(1994’s Ambushed and 1996’s Gravity) and a bunch of 12“s that contained some great remixes before parting ways. Our associate Roy Johnson put together a compilation of Bush Babees songs which did not appear on their albums and we also have a YouTube playlist dedicated to whimsical ragga-influenced rappers. Enjoy.

Seriously – why didn’t these guys keep making records together? I’ve yet to hear a Bush Babees song that’ve dissappointed.
Don’t get me started on that Mr. Khaliyl-shit though…

Petey – I agree. The difference in quality between their group material and solo efforts is absolutely staggering. Mind-blowing even.

“But nowadays, cause rap pays, you got a million rappers a thousand djs…” These music vids bring be way back. Props for this entry man. (Shitty video quality on We Run Things. This one’s slightly better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hszpWe5WR7w)

Great post. With the profound affect that gravity has on our everyday lives, I’m surprised there aren’t more songs about it.

Thank you for the memories! It’s alway good to hear that people enjoyed what you created. Some of those remixes you posted I haven’t even heard them until now, THANKS.

Big Up! Been a Bush babee fan since I first heard We Run Tings. Ambushed was good, but Gravity was and still is amazing from first track to last. Who can forget Mos Def’s verse on SOS, or the chorus on The Love Song?
“We Run Tings, Tings No Run We, cause everything we do, it fi done properly!”

Gravity is on my top album of all time list. Love the Bush Babees and wish they were still making music together.
