Did Nas rip off NYOIL? · by Rafi Kam

I know I wasn’t the only one scratching my head when that new Nas song dropped.

The hook is eerily similar to NYOIL’s “What up My Wigger?”, ain’t it?

Over at Unkut, NYOIL provides a prompt and cutting response. Oh hell, he gives Nas some Ether.

Bonus material… Here’s NYOIL performing the song in question during his set at the Stand Up show we helped put together a few months back.

Dude totally played me with the fake-out on the handshake.

We already posted the vid of NYOIL’s heated performance of You’re A Queen from that same night a few months back. Also recommended viewing.

  1. he aint wanna shake no white boy hands. you can change your clothes and no longer be a nigga.

    lol.

in all seriousness, while i get what nyoil is saying in that unkut drop, i still dig what nas is doing b/c it at least opens up the dialogue. as ill as nyoil is, he isnt on the level that nas is at right now, and we do need to have dialogue about these issues, so why cut the man down?

  6. What, I give pounds on camera for a living! Does the word “Chea!” mean anything to you?

Or, I may have spazzed out… It was a stressful evening.

As for the rest, I’ve been trying to get a copy of your set (your set specifically) since December. This whole controversy finally got me a 2nd song from the cameraman / editor.

But yeah, I’ll get you a copy of the whole set once I have it.

  12. Nas’ chorus is from a Detroit Grand Pubahs track (I believe). The original lyrics “I’m a ho, she’s a ho, he’s a ho, wouldn’t you like to be a ho too?”

It’s popular in booty bass/ghetto tech mixes.
